I’m sure you don’t need me to tell you this but it’s barely two months til Christmas. I had so many gifts I planned to make and nothing is made. Are you making gifts for those on your list? If so, what?
One thing I really want to get done is a pair of socks for the mail lady. She’s such a good mail lady! I had hoped to make socks and fingerless mitts but doubt I get everything done. But, I’m so wanting to knit the little cotton rabbits. Time is getting short if I want to make those socks for the mail lady though so when I finish Guernsey Wrap, I’ll start on her socks. For most gift socks, I use Opal yarn because it holds up so well.
We had a little storm blow through here last night and it is COLD! We absolutely have to go to Home Depot today and get stain because we need to re-do the trim on the house and we need to get the back side done before the put our gutters up week after next. There’s so much to get done around here.
I’m hoping it’s dry enough to work in the garden a bit. I’m still trying to figure out what the grasshoppers ate and all that needs to be replanted. I uncovered the cauliflower yesterday and am hoping the grasshoppers are gone.
So . . it’s going to be a busy day around my little place. Hope I can find some time for some kitty snuggling! 🙂

I have a lot of teens and Tweens on my list. I’m halfway through making luggage tags for them. (I found a great tutorial at Sid’s In Stitches blog.) They’ll also get cash or a gift card, but they’ll get something I made.

I just noticed your recipe for Homemade Hand Cream the other day – next time into town I went to the Dollar Tree. Small bottles of lotion for a lot of my guild friends! Maybe the mail lady, too. Winter is very dry here in Southern Colorado. Years ago I knitted afghans for a lot of folks – especially kids in college. More recently they got shrugs (hmmm … I’ve still got some of that yarn ..) but this year I think it will be a quilt for each couple.

I am only making one gift this year, it is the Vitamin D sweater that is currently on the needles. Almost finished with it, in fact, only about 15rows to go on the bottom. It is a top down sweater with radiating eyelets at the neck and the front hemline. The front opening cascades with a ruffle effect.

WOW, I know what you mean about getting stuff done. I’m having granite done starting next week and had estimates yesterday for replacements windows which I want to get in in the next couple of weeks. Also need some more fencing to put up (extending up each side of house) then the kitchen cabs. UGH, seems it’s never ending.

We live on a funny little street that is really more like a culdesac that they forgot to close off. The houses are number 1-10 down one side and up the other. After Christmas last year I made little tree ornaments that look like houses and I numbered them 1-10. So I have a head start of Christmas this year! Yay! When we take our bags of Christmas goodies to the neighbors this year we can tie on a house and they will have a hand made gift from us. We get the nicest things in return, one lady makes caramels every year and brings us a plate with cookies and her caramels–yum. Others we never hear from, but that is OK–we love them anyway.
I hope to make decorated kitchen towels for the ladies in the family, but I can’t decide to do them in a holiday theme or for daily use. I love the holiday theme, but it isn’t very practical for receiving on Christmas day. What do you think you’d rather have?

As far as Christmas goes I only need to make to stuffed penguins in the Pittsburgh hockey team colors for 2 grand nieces. Maybe a couple of holiday table runners. The 2 nieces are the only little ones in the family. Rest are adults and we have taken the easy way out. They love having a box of brisket sent to them from Salt Lick. Several years ago everyone got quilts.
We need to get our temporary green house out of storage and set up in the next week or so for just in case. And I need to start thinking about cleaning and sorting and packing up “stuff” from the rooms that will be getting a remake right after the holidays. DH is going big time in the make over!

I don’t envy you going through that size makeover. If you ever need to escape . . you’re always welcome here.

…and don’t forget to stop at the pet store while you’re out. Someone might be still waiting for you.

No! I don’t want to see him but I’m betting he’s gone. He was so cute.

my 2 Christmas quilts are done, they just need the binding is all. I’ll probably be baking things for Christmas this year, so will be pouring thru cook books and online, narowing down the food gifting ideas.

I know what you mean. I had planned to make some Christmas gifts, but I am pushing those to possible birthday gifts:) Our move took up the spring and summer, and now I am envolved with a t-shirt quilt for my oldest granddaughter. But I am getting close! Tomorrow I will start putting the binding on it. I met some people who belong to a local quilt guild that meets once a month. I have never been part of a guild, and I don’t know if I will like it or not. But I think I may go once or twice and see if I like it. Have you ever belonged to one?

Making ornaments out of pine cones, ruffled scarves for the girls, cards for all, hand cream for the girls/ladies, lip balm for all, fruit syrup for all, relishes for all, loaves of bread for all, summer sausage for the boys (daughter and family are vegans), soap for all. Whew! I think that’s it. Gift cards to supplement. Most of it’s already made, but just thinking about it made me tired.
