Nicole and I have been sewing a little and knitting more. We’ve been busy so it’s been hard to find time to sit and sew but it’s been easier to grab a few minutes here and there to knit. So far, she’s made two dish rags. We’re using Grandmother’s Favorite Dishcloth pattern. Here’s the first one she made.
The other one is green. They’re not perfect but they’re darned close and look a heck of a lot better than my first projects did. She seems to love knitting, probably more than sewing right now but that’s because of time and space constraints I believe. Some day she’ll have more room and more itme but for now, both are in short supply for her.

It looks like a pretty good start to me 🙂 I am a beginner knitter and that was my first project too.

Changing colors is pretty darn good for a beginning knitter. It took me several years to get the nerve to try that. You’re a good teacher. She’ll be making sweaters for Addie before you leave at this rate.

It’s self striping yarn. She didn’t change colors.

hello! i’m working on your medallion mystery, and with the (large) garden and all, I’ve fallen behind. i’m working really, REALLY hard to catch up. (hence the comment here, and not on October’s clue. I want to catch up before I peek!) anyway… just wanted to say i’m really enjoying this mystery! it’s a bit twiddly and fussy, which is something I usually avoid. BUT- I knew that making a quilt designed by you would be something totally different than what I usually do- and I was right! I like how it’s turning out, and look forward to finishing it…
what I really logged on to say, though, was I hope you’ll do another one next year. I did your UFO challenge 2 years, and with the mystery medallion I added myself the extra challenge of only using stash fabric. (almost did it!) so- keep up the good work, and as soon as i’m caught up, i’ll join the linky!

There’s already another one being planned. Thank you and yes . . next year’s project will probably be a bit “twiddly and fussy” too! 🙂

I think she did a great job. Don’t let her see the Bunnies or she might make them before you have a chance!

That’s what I told her . . all her gifts from me are knitted or quilted items and if she starts doing that herself, what will I give her? I guess I’ll give her gift certificates to The Loopy Ewe so she can buy yarn or fabric or maybe I’ll let her shop in my stash.

Wow! That’s so cool. Good job, Nicole!

I use the same pattern and a double strand of Bernat Cottontots – a worsted weight yarn – to make my favorite hotpads. Way to go, Nicole!

Nice job Nicole. I myself have just finished 2 of these dishcloths and I’ll say that Nicole’s look more symmetrical than mine do. I have little “wings” on one corner. Maybe she has a better teacher.

You are helping her realize her potential as a home-builder. =)
