When I called the USPS national toll free number to try to figure out what was happening with my package, that must have sent a “Missing” alert of some kind to my local post office. This morning, a lady from the post office called to see if I was waiting for a package that had been missing? Yes! She told me it was there and would be delivered today. Then my mail lady called and said I had to sign for it. When she handed it to me, she said “Thank goodness Vincent isn’t home today because I know this is yarn!” They all know the trouble I stay in with my yarn purchases. Only problem was . . Vincent took off today and he was home! 🙂 But, he knew I had been worried about the yarn and he knew it was supposed to be arriving today.
He looked at the yarn and he said “What’s so special about this?” I just said “It’s hand painted” and left it at that.
And, folks . . I did get a souvenir! See the little candle? I wrote to the girls at Knitwhits to tell them the yarn had arrived safely and asked if they sent the candle. Nope, not from them.
There was a little note in the package, which had been ripped and taped back up, that said “If you’re missing something, please call this number at the Lubbock Post Office. We may have your missing item.” Apparently there was a ripped package that should have had this candle in it and now I have the candle.
The package is here, the yarn is all safe and I’m very relieved to have it in my hands.

If only that yarn could talk! I bet it would have a great store to tell…
Joyce says
That should have been “story” to tell.

Definitely a case of all’s well that ends well. And an extra candle, too. Maybe it actually came from the order in a parallel universe where the shop *does* put candles in with the yarn. =)

After waiting and waiting for my Agata yarn, I emailed them – my yarn hadn’t been dyed yet – so I’m still waiting….it might ship tomorrow!

That’s too funny. No cocktail with an umbrella, but you did get a candle!

You need to keep the package with that note as a souvenir. Anything personal from USPS is a rare event, indeed.
Glad your yarn found its way to you. I love the stories about Vince and the mail. My current spouse has the same issues. Vince is not alone.

Why is it most men think you’re being foolish – you should be buying your yarn at Walmart????? They just don’t get it!

Oh, my husband gets it. He was just joking. He loves to joke with me about my yarn purchases.
