You know me .. I would never blame my purchases on a friend, but . . my not to be mentioned friend wrote me an email and said “Have you tried these?” It was curved piecing wires by Inspinknity. I’ve seen these flexible wires on projects on Ravelry but never knew were to buy them and never took the time to search for them. Several times I have really needed to block something curvy . . like this:

Those straight wires are evil! Really evil . . I dread finishing a project because of having to block it. I used to be able to block in the sewing room but now there’s an evil kitty in there who would probably injure himself on the evil blocking wires and then he would tear up my knitting project so now all blocking is being done on the extra bed, which is in the same room where I iron Vince’s shirt. If I didn’t have enough scratches on my legs from the evil kitty scratching me, I end up with a few more from the evil blocking wires stabbing me in the legs.
I’m always happy when Denise helps me spend my money!
Blocking Wires
The Premium wires are good for all projects except the Ultra Fine wires are recommended for lightweight lace projects. I haven’t done any lace projects but figured I’d get both sets . . just in case!
I will be able to use these when I block the curved section of Dreambird but . . I’ll still have to use the evil straight blocking wires too.
Seriously, thanks Denise for helping me find these flexible wires.

I’d never heard of blocking until recently but having just completed my first scarf/shawl I ordered these flexible wires. Look forward to hearing how you do it before I try!

I did only order the lace weight set – I thought I might be able to get away with using it for some heavier weights too – time will tell — if not I just may have to order the other one too. 🙂 I did already tell them at work today that I need to have a second desk so then I could bury the second set on that one. LOL

Alas – no second desk has arrived — just enough papers and files to fill a second one. But I HAVE unburied my blocking wires so they are going home with me today!! 🙂
