Almost every evening I say to Vince “Want to go for a ride on the RTV?” and his response is almost always the same . . nothing has changed since yesterday! But it just love riding around out there. Even though I had my camera, I wasn’t quick enough to get a picture of the wildlife we saw yesterday. Every time I see one of those huge jack rabbits, I tell myself that it was the biggest one I’ve ever seen but the one we saw yesterday may well have been the biggest one we’ve seen. I guess with all the green grass and almost adequate supply of water the jack rabbits are thriving this year. Later, we came up on a family of 5 or 6 deer. They ran but two more times, we caught a glimpse of them.
Someone asked me the other day how I keep from getting lost in the woods. We have trails cut. It’s pretty easy not to get lost. Every now and then I’ll get off the trail to get a closer look at something and then I have to think about which way to go but there are enough trails that I’ll come across one and even though I may not know exactly which way to turn, if I follow one of the main trails, I will get to a familiar spot. It’s kind of surprising for this city girl but 45 acres is not a big piece of ground and even with my uncanny ability to get lost, I don’t think I could get lost out here.
As we’re riding along, I’ll often say “Oh, this is a good spot for Chad and Nicole to build a house!” This was my pick from yesterday’s ride. A perfect spot for my grandchildren to grow up! 🙂
Yesterday was such a beautiful evening. It was a bit cloudy . . one of those days when I looked at the sky as we were driving away from the house, and thought . . I hope we get back before it rains, but it didn’t rain. Seeing so much green in early September is about the best thing folks in this area could imagine.

I love driving our 4 wheeler too. It makes me feel like a kid. You two really do have a pretty piece of property and I think that IS the perfect spot for the kids to build! 🙂

I love driving those things and golf carts. I would gladly chauffeur anyone around in one of them. HA! Sounds like fun.

Maybe it’s just my crazy way of thinking but I feel so “free” riding around in it. No other “traffic”. I don’t have to stay on my side of the center line. I can stop and look at what interests me. Maybe life would be better if we all drove RTVs instead of real vehicles! 🙂

I agree — that would be a beautiful spot for Chad and Nicole. For the 1st time in my life we are living close to one of our daughters and her family and are enjoying every bit of it. I had always envied those who lived near their grandchildren, and now that we live close to our 2 oldest granddaughters (16 and 18), I realized just how much we missed.

lots of comments on various posts….
1. your place looks stunning. Great place to raise grands!
2. love your endeavors at living off the land…just be careful!
3. scorpions…ugh. us too. kitties best scorpion killers.
4. quilting, sewing, knitting with kitties…almost impossible. You might consider a large dog crate or a dog run for “time out” area when you need to work or at night. I can close the door to my sewing studio and keep kitties out…but it wasn’t always so. Mitzi lived in my studio for over a year.
5. love all the knitting projects and the quilting projects you’ve shared. Thank you for sharing.
6. thanks for sharing the various food recipes too and all your self sufficient ideas. we’re not near as prepared as you, but …with a break in the health issues, we might be able to do better. We admire what you are able to do!
