We played! I did my best to run out all the kitty energy. I thought he was sufficiently exhausted. I sat down to knit. I was trying to act “normal”. No sudden moves. Nothing too wiggly to catch his attention. I was hoping he would fall asleep.
He was washing his hands . . a sure sign he was about to fall asleep, right? No! Next thing I knew, he had my arm in his mouth!
Before he was tired enough to take a nap, I was bleeding enough that I didn’t want to try knitting, and he was dripping wet from the spray bottle so I gave up knitting, played with the critter on the stick and the laser light and never did wear him out.
Yes, you’ll see the mess in my sewing room but here he is going up a roll of batting. This is not working out so well for my sewing future.
And, what goes up must come down!
All I can do is shake my head in disbelief . . first, that I have a cat and second, that he’s tearing up everything!

With your busy day and cat playing, I see you still had time to shave your legs, looking good!
Joan in NE says
Oh my, that little guy is giving you fits. He is lucky he worked his way into your heart BEFORE he showed what he could do. All this kitten energy will eventually go away and he will turn into a CAT. grin. Just enjoy him.
Barb Colvin says
I’m still having a difficult time believing that you chose your sewing room as his den. Reminds me of the Siamese we had that would lie in wait under the wood cook stove for my mid-night bathroom visit.
JudyL says
I don’t have a lot of choices as to where I can keep him. The dog is in the house and they do not get along.
Sherrill says
What a picture–you’re bloody and he’s soaked!! HA (well, not so HA on the blood part but I can picture a drowned rat-looking cat). And I thought it was hilarious when you said ‘no sudden moves’. LOL
Kate says
A bite is a provocation for a chase. I think he wants you to chase up the batting with him,,,,why don’t you? LOL
RobinCrittenden says
He’s a hand full, just get him a friend. A little younger but not much. Also he will get better. He needs someone to chase around and beat up. Also a companion. He probably sles until you come in the room. You are his playmate
JudyL says
No way! I think we’ve spent about $1,000 on this cat already. We can’t afford another one. I think he does sleep until I come into the room and then he’s full of energy and happy to have a playmate.
Jean Shute says
He’s a kitten. This phase will pass and he’ll settle down a bit when he’s an adult. Hang on.

If I had your talents, I would love to write about the antics of my dog and cats but I do enjoy reading your blogs. I just wonder why I get ads for Charmin ultra soft and Butt Paste! What’s the message? Hmmm!
Micki says
Since spaying w/ water is not really working, try a soda can w/ some coins in it. You shake and yell “no” at the same time. Worked for my kitties. Thank God they do grow up.
Linda says
Ah, but he’s so darned cute!
JudyL says
Lucky thing for him because if he wasn’t so darned cute . . remember . . I do not like cats! 🙂
Susan says
Oh to be a kitten again…. Hang in there I promise you it will get better. I have little rubber balls, catnip filled mouses and sometimes squished up tissue paper balls that my cat loves to play with. When he bites just pry his mouth off your poor hand or arm and move away from him for a bit. I also say “NO Bite”. Hopefully when he sees that he will get NO attention when he does that he will stop that behavior. I must say if I were a kitten I would LOVE to live in your exciting sewing room. :-))
Deb says
Hang in there, Judy. It will be a while but my 3 cats have all gotten to where they will sleep in the recliner with me while I’m knitting, crocheting or doing handwork and as long as I don’t inadvertantly drape the thread/yard across their nose, they will leave it alone. They aren’t kittens, though. We had to get through the kitten stage but they’ve learned and they also have learned that sleeping on mommas longarm bed is an absolute no-no. I scream, wave my arms and made a big scene when they did it and they’ve learned when mommas mad, it’s bad.

Those photos of Boots on the batting roll are hilarious!
JudyL says
They’re way more funny for you to see than for me to see! 🙂
Mel Meister says
He will calm down eventually and you will find that you miss his antics.
JudyL says
I wouldn’t bet on missing his current antics. He would be hilarious to watch if it were someone else who had a kitty hanging from his claws on their backside or if I were watching someone else try to kitty proof a room full of sewing stuff.
