There was a time when I didn’t like pizza. I still do not like marinara sauce. I’m married to a Sicilian. I really need to like red sauce. Through the years, my homemade pizzas have improved and just last night, I told Vince I think I could eat pizza every night.
It’s so easy to make . . hardly any mess at all. If I make it with low fat cheese, would it be healthy enough to eat it every night for dinner? What if I added a salad? 🙂

What did you use for the crust?

Because of cholesterol, I had to eliminate cheese from my diet (lowered by 38 points!) so I tried pizza without cheese, just sautéed some onions, peppers, and sundried tomatoes a bit and stacked on top of the pizza. I loved it! Restaurant pizza without cheese? Doable but not so tasty and they look at you like you have 2 heads.

My husband is not a big fan of pizza, while I could eat it everyday! I started baking mine on the grill and he is much more agreeable to having pizza now. I try to use low fat ingredients and load up on veggies to make it a little more healthy, but sometimes I just have to have pepperoni!

I love pizza but don’t care for marinara sauce either. My pizza has to be thin, crispy crust with minimum sauce. Don doesn’t care too much for pizza but I might give this recipe a try.

My husband was a 2nd generation Sicilian (his father immigrated as a young man and his mother’s parents had immigrated from the same village a generation before). All of this is to say that he loved all of my cooking, but the best complement was that my “sauce/gravy” was the best he ever ate. Oh, and I remember the time he told me that there was no such thing as too much garlic. He thought it might be good if I rubbed it behind my ears as perfume!

Have you thought of doing half with alfredo sauce and half with marinara sauce? I used to like my pizza with the alfredo sauce, but when I found I was allergic to dairy, that ended. So now I eat pizza without cheese.

I actually eat pizza quite often. Since I’m not supposed to have carbs, I make mine on a low-carb tortilla and put lots of protein on it. Cheese, sometimes some ground beef or italian sausage, or even chicken. Sometimes I like to have the tortilla with pesto, then some feta cheese, and sundried tomatoes. It’s soooo good! Lots of ways to have pizza and yes, with a salad, you’ve got the ideal meal. Yesterday I canned a bunch of tiny jars of tomato sauce expressly for the purpose of pizza. I hate having a whole big jar of sauce when I’m just going to use a little bit.
