This morning while cleaning out some old pictures on memory cards, I came across this one . .
I hadn’t planned on making cinnamon rolls today but I do believe that’s going to happen. I just put a loaf of slicing bread in the pan to rise but now that I’ve seen this picture, I can’t stop thinking about cinnamon rolls.
Often when I make dessert, most of it gets tossed. Believe it or not, the Salty Caramel Butter Bars I made last week . . I gave some of it to my neighbor, I think Vince and I each ate one bar and then I broke off maybe one or two bites but I just threw out over half of it. It was delicious but we’re just not big dessert eaters. Cinnamon rolls always get consumed . . every crumb of them . . we love cinnamon rolls.
I’m not sure if I’ll make the sourdough recipe I’ve made before or if I’ll use my old tried and true standby recipe.
Maybe I’ll wait til tomorrow to make cinnamon rolls. Vince has been asking for pretzels so maybe I’ll make those for tonight. See a pattern/preference here . . we’ll take something yeasty and doughy any day over something sweet and gooey.
Are you baking anything special this weekend?

i made those salted caramel bars and even with my family with 5 teenagers, it was a struggle to get them eaten and we too ended up throwing some away as we could not eat them before they became stale.
i think it was because there was just too much butter–i know! i didnt think there was any such thing as too much butter, but even paula deen would agree, there is just toooooo much butter in these. they are too rich and not enough balance between the salty and sweet coz you cant even find them through the too buttery (which in turn makes them greasy) shortbread.
i totally loved the concept of these cookie bars though and will definitely monkey around with the recipe coz who doesnt love shortbread, caramel and salt? YUM!!!
that being said, we are definitely like you and vince though–give us some bread or potatoes and we are happy campers–love that starch more than the sweets.

I love the sweet and gooey, but when I make something that is going to be “too much”….I slice it and wrap each piece and put half or more of whatever it is in the freezer and then I can take out one or more pieces when I need/want some more and not have to use the oven! Sometimes whatever it is is even better partially frozen!!
Of course the goats and donkeys will take care of anything that actually has to be thrown out (i.e. over the fence)!

I can resist most things if there’s no chocolate involved, but cinnamon rolls? Never! No special weekend plans. Sewing tomorrow, church and genealogy on Sunday, very typical of my life. =)

Hi Judy, those cinnamon rolls sound delish, and I don’t really like them. Might have to rethink that.
I wanted to ask you a question and not sure where to do that so I am doing it here. About 4 days ago I quit getting your blog updates by email. I love getting them and look forward to them. HELP! What do I do to get them back? I am a religious reader and miss you. I had to hunt you down this evening because once again another day had gone by without an email from your blog.
Keep up the good work. You are an inspiration and I love hearing about your chickens and farm and all your fun projects you have going on.
Thanks for your help.

Thank you for the cinnamon roll recipe. I made them yesterday and they turned out terrific. I’ve never had much luc with yeast recipes but this one worked great.
