This month, we’ll be making more square in a square or Economy Patch blocks but these will be 6″ finished or 6-1/2″ unfinished. Step 1: If you’re using EQ, and wish to paper piece, it’s the Economy Patch block again. Please make 12 blocks.
For each block, cut the following:
Fabric 6: 1 – 3-1/2″ square
Fabric 4: 1 – 4-1/4″ square. Cut on the diagonal twice to yield 4 triangles.
Fabric 1: 2 – 3-7/8″ squares. Cut on the diagonal once to yield 4 triangles.
Step 2:
Sew the log cabins together in sets of 2. Make 12 sets of 2.
Step 3:
Sew an Economy Patch in between the log cabin sets, as shown below, for the side borders. Make 2. These will be for the sides.
Step 4.
Sew an Economy Patch between the log cabin sets, and include an Economy Patch on each end, as shown below. Make 2. These will be for the top and bottom.
Step 5.
Sew the side borders to the top, then sew the top and bottom borders. Your top should now look like this!
If you’re up to date through the July clue, please share a picture. On Monday, I will draw for the winner . . who will receive a Stash Pack from Vicki Welsh’s Etsy Shop. When you need (or want) hand dyed fabric, please remember Vicki . . who sponsors this Mystery.

Wow, just wow! How beautiful! I looked at your website first thing this AM to see what “our” (my 85 YO mom and I are both doing this) next step was and was blown away. Thanks for this GREAT design Judy (and the great fabrics, Vicki).

I am up to date, just haven’t taken the time to figure out how to load a photo! Oh, well, the gals at Saturday’s sew-in thought it was great! Many questions on pattern-so guess where I referred them!!!

I started following you after you started this quilt but seeing this border and quilt top I would really like the pattern. Is there somewhere I can purchase it from?
