The Road to Brenham fabric requirements, according to Electric Quilt, which I find to be pretty accurate are as follows:
NOTE: I usually add at least 1/4 yard so that I will have plenty of fabric for straightening, washing, drying and a few errors. On the larger amounts, I may add as much as 1/2 yard. Additional fabric has not been added to the amounts shown below.
Fabric 1 – Background – 5 yards (several background fabrics could be used to make it scrappy)
Fabric 2 – Gold – 2-3/4 yards
Fabric 3 – Medium Blue – 5/8 yards
Fabric 4 – Darker Blue – 4-3/4 yards
Binding – 11 strips (If cutting at 2.5″, you’ll need 27.5″ so I would buy 7/8 yard)

I usually add, too. That’s why I make so many scrap quilts, I guess. =D

Still working on that trip to Hancock Fabrics. I plan on making this quilt. I love it so much. And I also love to have extra scraps, like maybe a yard of each left over for the scrap quilts 🙂

Would love to do this, but I have never done one before. Do I just follow your blog, or do I have to do something else? Thanks, Deb
