As Independence Day comes to a close, I can’t help but remember my Celebration of Freedom quilt. I know it went to a good cause but it’s one I miss a lot. It’s hard to believe it was 8 years ago when I made this quilt. I wasn’t 100% happy with the border but back then, I wasn’t quite as brave about making borders.
This is a blog post I did that gives some basic directions for making the quilt. This post shows a border variation.
I have another one of these started but haven’t seen it in forever. I should get it out and work on it and have it done by this time next year!

What a beautiful quilt; I wish I were brave enough to try a complex pattern like this. I think it’s a bit too much for a beginner. I do love it so I know why you miss it. Thank you for sharing.

Wow! Another design to be added to my list. I really should put my knitting needles down and sew some more.

Judi, All 3 are great. I have to agree with you on the second choice on the 2010 blog. Is this in one of your books? I all 3, will have to go check it out. Did you paper piece the stars? I love that technique. You are inspiring me every day with your patterns. I must get the newer EQ update, the old one isn’t working for me on this new pc. Bev

That is an absolutely gorgeous pattern. I have lots of patterns set out to start, but that one is too good to put it on the bottom of the pile! I wasn’t aware of you eight years ago, so don’t remember ever seeing this pattern. Love it!!

I love it Judy. I can understand why you miss that one. I miss every one I have given away too. It’s like giving part of your life away.
Gee, it sounds like another thunderstorm coming on. I think God is getting tired of hearing all the fireworks every night for the past 6 weeks too, so He’s chiming in with his own. We’re having a strange weather pattern here this year.

I remember that beautiful quilt. Wow! Have I really been reading your blog for 8 years? Longer, I’m sure. Where has the time gone. I can’t imagine a day without at least one post from Judy. 🙂
