There’s a yarn shop in Abilene . . Yarnies. Until yesterday, I knew it was there, I had been by there once but had never shopped there. I decided since I had a little time yesterday, I would run by there.
Oh . . remember I said I wasn’t going to buy yarn for a while .. I meant .. after today I wasn’t going to buy yarn for a while. Are we clear on that? Most all of the yarn I have ever bought has been purchased online without the benefit of seeing it and feeling it so it was an amazing experience to be able to see it and feel it and match colors without having to rely on my computer monitor and hope the colors were correct.
They were having their Second Anniversary Sale. The lady who owns the store was very nice and very helpful. Since I only knew of a couple of projects that I wanted to get yarn for, I didn’t buy too much.
This one might work for another Wingspan.
This is Ella Rae, an Italian yarn and it feels so good. I thought the color on the right might make a good Brickless.
When looking at the Dreambird projects on Ravelry, I’ve loved the ones that use the Noro Taiyo Sock for the feathers. I also bought the solid which is a teal, maybe for the background. The background really can’t blend into the feather fabric. I’m not sure if this teal is what I want or not but it’s a start.
I think I like this feather yarn better with the dark green background.
This is the same Noro Taiyo Sock in blue with a dark blue background. Another possibility.
I like this pink too . . also a Noro Taiyo Sock yarn. It’s with the green background here but I’m thinking maybe I’d like it with a very dark brown background.
Lots of choices .. lots of yarn . . and it’s very nice to have such a nice yarn shop in Abilene but I am thankful that it takes about 1-1/2 hours to get there and I really don’t know my way around Abilene so hopefully I won’t be going over there too often.

What beautiful yarn choices. The color suckers me in every time. It’s hard to walk away from all that beauty – same with being in a fabric store.

Drool! How are you ever going to make up your mind? I love the pink and think dark brown would be stunning. As for the teal or the green, I love the teal. But you didn’t ask so I’m not saying anything. 🙂 🙂 :).

ROFLOL!!!!!!!! They are lovely lovely lovely and you are right – the first time I walked into a shop that carried all those yarns I normally have to order on line, it was like sensory overload (like walking into Hancocks of Paducah the first time). I have all my packages that arrived yesterday spread out on the floor trying to decide which ones I want to use for what project … decisons decisons…

Rats! I was just in Abilene a few weeks ago for a wedding with time to kill. Did not know a yarn shop had opened up. They have not had one in years. Where is it? South side probably, mall area? By the looks of all you bought, they have a nice selection.

Knew it would not last long 🙂 It is a shame if you are in a yarn shop and not to buy, well that would be my excuse

You picked some great colorways. (Btw, sales don’t count under the “no more buying yarn” clause.) I like the second Noro picture for Dreambird. Yum. Ever since Sheri posted about her Ananke shawl, I’ve been looking for yarn and that Mille would be great with that pattern.

Oh, I do hope you bought all your choices at once. After all, they might not be there the next time you go :). They are all so pretty, it would be a shame if you passed on one of them and decided later it was just the right one and then couldn’t find it again. And you can always hide things like that in the trunk until Vince is in the shop, or late at night when he is asleep and just slip them in your stash to pull out later. I’ve had lots of experience with that. Hubby: where did that come from? Me: (all innocense) the closet. Hubby: oh, okay. As long as it isn’t new. Me: would it be in the closet if it was new? 🙂

Oooo! Nice choices. I have to go up to McMinnville in the next few weeks to pick up my antique chain stitch machine that was not able to be fixed. I took it to Boersma’s which is a really nice quilt shop and sew/vac place (he sells Innova long arms), but they also have a nice yarn shop across the street. It’s always dangerous to go there!

I’m glad you didn’t buy much. =)
