It’s always a bit bittersweet when I finish a top I’ve been working on for a long time. Remember, this is the one I had all put together except for the borders when I started the purple/gold version for my friend! Do you ever feel sentimental about finishing a quilt top? Maybe it’s because I know I have to clean the sewing room a bit before I can go on to another project but sometimes I find myself dragging out those last few stitches.
I really love this quilt and it’s hard to believe I’ve made two of them, back to back, and won’t be keeping either of them. Chad had asked for this one one day when he saw it on the blog on the design wall post so this one will go to him.
And just to prove to you how totally color coordinated I am around here, look at the pencil I was using!
Exact same shade of purple and black! Seriously, it just happened to be the pencil I picked up but it was funny to see how well it matched the quilt.
That’s the end of the sewing for today . . out to the garden to see what needs my attention. I’m praying the squash need picking again! I picked two grocery sacks full this morning! Can you guess that grasshoppers don’t like squash?

beautiful judy! i am looking forward to tomorrow when next clue comes out. i am ready for my borders–yeah!!!! i am going to be adding one more color i believe……i have used a mary englebriet print and want to bring some blue to the party…..gonna use it where the black is on yours. it will meet the print in the outer border. then, adding another color, green, for the binding. i cant wait to see this done too. like i said before, i think this is one of my finest quilts i have done so far. only to be surpassed by by tattoo quilt that i designed to reflect the celtic knotwork of one of my tattoos…..

Beautiful, again. I really like that purple. It’s one of my favorite colors.

It’s beautiful Judy. I don’t think I’ve ever tried to draw one out longer though. By the time I get to the binding I want it to be finished. I love those colors. Are you sure you didn’t take the pencil to the fabric store with you to color coordinate? It’s perfect. You really make me laugh.

It is beautiful, and the one of the two that I think I prefer since it’s so green, beautiful green! Yes, sometimes I feel that way when I finish something.

Beautiful! ! The colors are gorgeous and the pattern is awesome. You sure know how to pick colors so well. I’m hoping to finish up a quilt for my grandson son. I have too many painful days getting in the way and today is no different. When I do finish one I find myself questioning whether the new owner will really enjoy it. The one thing I dread is giving one away then finding out they use it for a rug on a muddy day or to soak up water during a flood. It would really crush me if anyone did that. I have heard of that happening so I try to be careful of who gets what I make.
Congrats on the big finish! I have about 25 total quilts I have waiting on me. One day at a time.

Love your quilt top. I was not familiar with this quilt-along until only recently so I did not participate. However, I have printed out the steps and hope to begin working on it soon. I’ll be sure to post a pictore of it when I’ve finished. Thanks!

This is one of my favorite quilts of yours. The colors are just beautiful!
By the time I finish a project, I’m ready to be done with it and move on.
