I am so creative . . or should I say . . sneaky! Vince was still off work yesterday but thank goodness, he was feeling well enough to go to work today. Last week The Loopy Ewe got in Wollmeise. You have to get that stuff the minute it hits the internet or it’s gone. I’ve been trying so hard to get two skeins of Raku and it’s not easy to get that color at all. Last week, on Wednesday, I happened to click on TLE’s website and there was that much sought after Wollmeise yarn. I began clicking! You really don’t even have time to decide if it’s a color you want or not . . they’re gone that fast. I had a few in my cart and what did I see farther down the page . . Raku. I added it to my cart and checked out . . as quick as I could. Chances were that it would arrive here on Saturday but it didn’t really matter because Vince was going to be home Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
It didn’t arrive on Saturday and when I checked the status yesterday morning, here’s what I saw.
Hmmm . . how am I going to sneak this box in? I had already mentioned to him that there was a Wollmeise update. Without my saying I had ordered any, I think/assumed he knew. What he didn’t know was . . how much I had ordered.
I had a plan! My mail lady is a friend but she doesn’t live real close to me. I give her eggs but I haven’t seen her in about a week so I figured she needed eggs and without me having to drive to her house or her having to come back here after work, I thought . . I’ll stick eggs in a cheap styrofoam ice chest, ice them down, and give them to her when she comes by with my box. I texted her and said “If I stick eggs in a cooler with ice, can you take them today?” Perfect! I’d tell Vince I had to meet her to give her eggs. I’d bring my box back and he’d never even think about it. My mail lady’s response . . “I’m not running the route today. Doctor’s appointment. Will tomorrow work? ” Well . . not really!!
I ended up going down to get the mail and left the box in the back of the RTV. I brought the other mail in to Vince and this conversation ensued:
Vince: Did you get your box?
Me: Yep.
Vince: Where is it?
Me: In the back of the RTV.
Vince: You don’t want me to see how big it is, do you?
Me: It really isn’t THAT big!
End of that conversation.
One thing that was in the package . .
It may not look like it in this picture but that little critter takes up a whole lot of room! It wasn’t yarn that caused the box to be bigger . . it was Little Loopy! That’s my story and I’m sticking with it.
Seriously . . I’m not joking this time . . I’m done buying yarn for a while!!

I would have done the same thing. I love your colors.

Did you give Little Loopy to Vince? Maybe that would make it ok! Or is this one for Addie when she comes?

Me – am on a spending diet – no fabrics – I walk past fabrics in the LQS with blinders on – almost.
Re yarn – I get updates from several companies – and really WASN’T going to get anymore – but then 3 things happened – (1)I fell in love with Wingspan, (2)I learned how to bind off, (3) I actually FINISHED that little scarf (beginning stitches – 20, ending stitches 40 = and it looks like a pregnant scarf about to give birth! BUT hey – It’s MINE!!!! and it will be WARM!
So – now – having finished THAT one – I want to do another one (now that knitting actually feels easier for me – pregnant scarf not withstanding!)

So are you a Loopy Gold Member yet?
I turned the heel on the first pair of socks ever last night!

I’m not a knitter, nor do I ever plan to be (I used to crochet), but I still read most of the yarn posts and crack up over them – adds to my day!.

We know better about you not buying yarn for a while… A friend explains her yarn/fabric purchases as they are her artist pallette, just like a painter uses oil paints. Sounds like a good excuse to me!

I love reading your blog, you’re too funny. I like all the farm stories. It can get boring reading about quilting all the time.

Way to go Judy! I love those colors, and just think of all the fun you’re going to have. As to not buying any more? I tell myself that every time I boot up my computer, but then I always start surfing. Yesterday I finally just cut up my debit card because I was beginning to let it rule my life. Now I wish I had held off on that for another week or two. I mean, really, I can’t take it with me, but then I can’t take my yarn stash either. And I really do need to get some of it out of that closet so I can hang up some clothes. And replace the yarn with a new fabric stash. And more soap making supplies, And more….well, you see my problem. The card had to go, or I had to look for a larger place to live and I don’t want to move again.

That you can type this without spitting Dr. Pepper all over the keyboard is the greatest trick. I love your optimism!!

hmmmm, so where are you going to house your flock of Little Loopies? you must have a beginner’s flock of them by now, right?
Rebecca says
Let’s just wait and see what the definition of “a while” is! 😀

Does Vince ever say he’s only working to pay for yarn? LOL

I’ve been holding off on buying more fabric, patterns, rulers, etc. because a friend and I are going to the Vermont Quilt Festival and we’ll be stopping at some shops along the way as well! We couldn’t go all that way and not see what other shops have. That’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it.
