Yesterday was the day I said any remaining eggs got tossed. It should take about 21 days for eggs to hatch and these had been in there for 26 days and Mean Chicken was pretty much done with them so . . out they went.
Baby Chicks
We’ve had a “wall” of sorts blocking them in the nest but when I went out yesterday, Mean Chicken and one baby were in another next. I had planned to take the wall down today but went ahead and did it yesterday since they were escaping already.

Mean Chicken makes a sound and the babies come running to see what she’s found. I’m sure that some time today she’ll have them out in the yard running around. They’re so fun to watch.

They are growing up so fast. And still so cute. Four more grasshopper catchers to add to the roster. Wouldn’t it be nice if we could understand chicken talk? Then you could tell us what Mean Chicken is saying to the babies. It will be fun to watch them out in the yard, pecking away at the bugs.
