Nothing is ever easy at this house. We wanted land and we got land. We should have probably been a bit more picky about the house . . but we weren’t. This morning the electrician was here to do more work and when he got down to the guts of our electrical box, everything was wrong.
The meter has to be pulled and the entire box redone. We’re waiting on the power company now to get here. Then everything has to be fixed and the power company has to come back and re-connect us.
The electrician and Vince have both assured me we’ll have electricity again by the end of the day but I’m not betting the farm.
So . . if you don’t hear from me, it’s because things are unplugged around here. I did get the stash report scheduled to post tomorrow but I can’t check it if I don’t have power so if it isn’t working correctly, I’ll fix it as soon as I can. Seriously, if we don’t get power tonight, we’ll probably go to a hotel . . or maybe not knowing Vince!
No phone, no cell phone, no internet. Hopefully I can sit on the porch and knit without the bugs carrying me off.
Poor, poor Judy! 🙂

“Snort” Not feeling sorry for you one bit! LOL If you were closer, you could come here. I’ve got empty rooms. 🙂

Forced knitting time? Well it could be worse but I’m sure you’ll keep busy.

I am so sorry! Glad that the wiring problem never resulted in harm or damage. Goodness sakes, it appears that an untrained installer must have been in charge of the wiring and that the inspector’s not worth a hill of beans for approving the work. Good luck getting the problem rectified quickly.

Bless your heart…..hopefully all will be turned back on very soon. Maybe the bugs will stay away but don’t count on that either. Crossing my fingers that things will get worked out!!

It doesn’t matter what house you buy, or where, it’s going to turn out to have issues, somewhere, somehow. If the power isn’t back on by the time the electric people call it quits for the day go to a hotel. If Vince doesn’t want to, leave him home & go anyway. Much nicer knitting in an air conditioned room with hopefully no bugs trying to carry you off.

Hope you have citronella candles. I’ve never used then, but have heard they are great to keep the mosquitos away. Ours will eat you alive and carry your body away to get last drop of blood. I hate losing electricity, but worst things can happen.
JudyL says
I do have citronella candles but we don’t have many mosquitoes. It’s gnats and grasshoppers, scorpions and black widow spiders and I’m not sure how they react to citronella.

Sitting on the porch in the country watching the wildlife and knitting. Sounds like a rough life to me! Poor Judy.
Enjoy the peace and quiet…it won’t last nearly long enough. (lol)

Watching the wildlife – well, as long as the wildlife does NOT include mosquitoes draining the last drop of blood out of you! Still and all, I’m so sorry Judy, I know how much you – uh – hate having to spend all that time knitting! LOL Just hope there are no mosquitoes masquerading as B-29 bombers!

I do hope your power is restored before the evening comes. If not, enjoy your knitting, I always get bitten and my husband never, by mosquitoes.
Perhaps you need a treadle to use when the power is down!!!
I love mine, for simple sewing, so relaxing.

Isn’t this why you put in your solar well, and are doing all the prep work? Now is a good time to test it all out! I always like it when the power is out. We have a 250 gal tempering tank in the basement for water, (and a lake) and gas stove. And an outhouse, so we are fine with no power for quite a while, but in Texas, it would be horrible without the AIR! OMG. I did just see a solar powered generator at Costco with looked pretty cool! Always a thought….at least to charge the iPad and phone!
Good luck….
JudyL says
The well is solar powered and it’s a cloudy day . . not enough sun to run it. It’s very rare that we have overcast days but I’m thankful today was one of them. We have a 3,000 gallon tank but it runs off a pump. I can flip a switch to get it it run without the pump but the electrician is re-doing all that so there will be a switch closer to the house and I don’t have to walk out to the tank so right now, I can’t flip the switch. I have a gas stove too but cooking isn’t on the agenda for today. With 45 acres and lots of trees, I don’t worry so much about an outhouse! 🙂
Without power, I have no cell service so keeping the iPad or iPhone charged isn’t a priority. Staying cool . . that’s a major priority and I don’t have any solution for that yet.

Good thing you already got your yarn order in!

I read you 1st entry, so I know you got your power and everything else that goes with it, thankgoodness! We have just moved from IL to AL and during the move we had no internet for about 2 weeks. I had more than 1,000 emails to wade through, and I am still not done. That is why I just sent you the email about the eggplant exploding. Fortunately, we have had power and thus AC, and we have had cell phones. We have been able to sleep in the new house 4 nights now but still have boxes upon boxes to unpack. .But we are so thankful for the many blessings God has showered upon us during this whole move. We are waiting for the carpet to be taken up in the sewing room and the guest room and the new hardwood flooring to be installed before we set up those rooms. But everyday we see a little more progress:)
