Camp Loopy Project 2

I could be psychic!  No, I didn’t say psychotic!  🙂  This morning when my eyes popped open, the first thought in my head was “Maybe today Sheri will tell us what the second Camp Loopy project will be!”  In reality, I had looked back to see at what point in the month she usually tells us and since she doesn’t blog every day but Wednesday is a blog day for her, it stood to reason that it would be today and it is!

The second project (my condensed version):  A project listed on Ravelry that has been made or queued by at least 1,000 other folks and uses 500 or more yards.  Sheri listed a whole bunch of projects in her blog post.  I went through them all and went through my Ravelry library and my favorites.  I came up with these:

Pamuya – I’ve been wanting to make this one for a long time.

Pamuya

Lintilla – I like all of Martina Behm’s patterns!

Lintilla

Hitchhiker – This one has also been in my library forever.  This is another Martina Behm design.

Hitchhiker

Because during the month of July, a certain little toddler will be here for a week, I need something really easy.  I think I could do either Lintilla or Hitchhiker without paying much attention to the pattern.  Pamuya may require more effort on my part so I’m going to rule it out.  Both Lintilla or Hitchhiker require 2 skeins of most fingering weight yarns (a bit over 550 yards) so I’m going to go ahead and choose the yarn and get it ordered and I’ll decide on a pattern later.

Before you ask . . I’m working on the first project.  It has to have about 200 stitches on each side and as of now, I have about 125 stitches.  As it progresses, those rows get longer and take forever!  I’ll get it done .. Vince has several medical appointments in Abilene before the end of the month so that gives me lots of knitting time.  It’s kinda sad to look forward to sitting in the waiting room at a doctor’s office just so I can have time to knit, huh?

Who hoo — LOL I checked this morning too (and after lunch) cause I thought today might be the day too. At least it’s not the dreaded 800 yards to use. Off to shop

I bought the pattern to make Ishbel some time ago, so I decided to make that. I ordered one skein of Swans island fingering that has 525 yards- I am hoping I can work out the size I need to make to use 500 yds but not be short of yarn!

Actually, I always have a project, usually something small in cross stitch or embroidery ready to go to ER. Sounds ominous, but I find that a good book, a crossword puzzle and handwork calm me down whether I am the patient or the driver. Not just ER, but doctor’s appt. in general. Hate just sitting doing nothing staring at other people in the same situation. Happy time in July . . .pictures please.

So what yarn did you order?!?!? I wanted purple yarn so I ordered Socktopus in Hyacinth. Originally I was planning on making Hitchhiker, but I’m worried that it will read too solid and be “boring”. I’ll have to wait to see it in person.

I finished and blocked my Project 1 today. Now I’ll have time to get some quilting in before July 1.

I thought it would be fun to use one of the camp colors for project 2, so I got the Seasonings Series Mt Kaytwopeatwo color way. It’s 530 yards. Now the pattern search begins!

Lord have Mercy! I’m knee deep in Tour-de-sock and will be for weeks yet. I’m afraid Camp Loopy will go by the way side this year.

I like all three – I’d already decided that I’m making hitchhiker. I’d bought her ebook with 4 patterns a few weeks ago and when I saw it on the list this morning I decided it was time….I will also have little ones around on and off all month as well as a visit from my Mom and two sisters – I’m spending the whole month of July plus a couple weeks in GA.

I decided to make the Stockholm Scarf for a friend in Michigan for her birthday in January. I ordered Malabrigo – Rastita Glitter for her scarf. I have one more sock to make for Project 1.

Another Hitchhiker knitter here. I’m looking forward to this pattern ’cause I’ve not made anything like this before. I also like the easy factor.
