I don’t usually share these things but so many of us are near the same age. I keep telling myself that my memory is no worse than it used to be but I simply have too many things on my mind. I’ve probably told this story on here before but . . I can’t remember if I have or not! 🙂
Vince and I were dating . . thankfully! He was much more patient back then . . you know how guys are before you’re married! He flew into Houston on a very late flight. I was picking him up at the airport. I was much younger back then so this can’t be blamed on age related memory loss. I got to the airport and I knew I’d never find my car so I wrote down where I parked . . something like “6 North”. I have no idea this many years later how Houston’s airport had their parking lot marked.
I went into one terminal, then went to another terminal, met Vince, got luggage and came out completely on the other side of the airport. He said “Do you remember where the car is?” Oh yes! Very proud of myself, I handed him the paper on which I had written it down. We walked and walked and walked. It was getting close to midnight. Could not find that blasted van anywhere! I pushed the panic button thinking that would surely help. Did not. After several hours of dragging Vince’s luggage through the parking lot, we met up with a security guy and Vince explained that I had written down where I parked the car but we could not find it. The security guy laughed and told us we were on the complete wrong side of the airport from where the car was located and he took us right to our car.
Any time now when Vince complains about me not remembering something or losing something, I say “You knew how I was when you married me! Remember the Houston airport?” 🙂
So, if you can relate to not remembering, you’ll laugh at this video.

I don’t know if I remember that or not. I think I can relate though. I’m fairly sure I still have at least one active brain cell left.

Been there done that. We lost our van twice. Once at St. Louis. We were at a baseball game. Security told us there was no parking lot near the field with a fence. There was and after them driving around for 15 minutes our van was found! So when we went to Teladega to the races we triangulated our van with a distinct tree, a water tower and something inside the race tract. It took nearly an hour for us to find the van…….on the other side of the track.
Love the song.

Oh, my gosh, that is hilarious! Only because I still have enough memory to understand it, of course! LOL

My 94 year old mom has Alzheimer’s disease. When she was still in her 80s and more with-it, she told a neighbor one time that she was having a religious experience, thinking about the hereafter. The neighbor said, ‘oh really?’ and mom said ‘yes, I wander from room to room, thinking “what am I here after?”

This made me laugh! We just got home after visiting our daughter. On the drive back, we were about an hour from her house and DH realized he’d forgotten to get his insulin out of her fridge. Then, when we finally got home, we discovered that we had forgotten to lock the back door — so the house had been open for the four days we were gone. I think we need a keeper!

Oh so funny (or is it sad?)! I can so totally relate. I made a new binding for my sister’s quilt, even though I know she sent me the binding already made, but I couldn’t find it . . . until I went to sit at the sewing machine and there was the bag with the binding!! Good grief.

Judy, I have been convinced it all is BRAIN OVERLOAD!

Laura says
I can relate, but you walked for several hours??? Did Vince refuse to ask for directions? 😉
JudyL says
Directions to a lost car?
Laura says
Yes, like, “Where is section 6 North?” I just know I’d be awfully tired from walking around so long. Maybe I misunderstood what you said in your post, though.
Helen Koenig1 says
But Judy – you CAN ask directions to a lost car. I asked the security police. Problem was – it was still under my dad’s name and MY name was my married name! The police were VERY VERY suspicious to say the least!

This reminds me of one VERY forgetful trip with my DH when I left my rings next to the hotel hot tub, our camera in the rental car glove compartment and my purse at a local restaurant. Fortunately all were found, but I think my DH was ready to leave me there!!
Debi says
Judy – just too funny – I’m going to have to share your blog with my friends – I’ve told them all about you anyway!!!
