First, I’m not going to apologize because I talk too much on here. Every now and then, there’s a day when there are 9 or 10 posts. My blog is my diary. If I need to go back and see when Houdi hatched, or when I picked the first tomato hornworm off my tomato plants, the info is on the blog. I know . . not all of it interests everyone and some of you are here purely for the free quilt patterns and Quilt Alongs. Please remember that what you’re getting isn’t costing you a dime so if your efforts to find things get to be too troublesome, maybe you can find patterns and books to buy instead of coming here for the freebies. Yes, it aggravates me when someone gets rude because they can’t find something!
If you write me asking for something that’s easily searchable, I’m probably not going to respond. Do you know what I have to do to find things on the blog? The exact same thing you would have to do! But then I have to copy/paste the link in an email to you. It’s not that I’m too busy to help but . . I kinda am!
There’s a search bar on the right sidebar. Put in what you’re looking for and chances are, it will pop right up. Sometimes a whole lot of things come up and you may have to look through a dozen or so posts to find what you’re looking for. Remember . . there are patterns you can buy that are probably much easier for you to use!
To those who were looking for the alternate colorings for Road to Llano . . I’m not talking to you. And, I’ve added a link to that post on the main Road to Llano page. To get there, click on the Road to Llano picture in the left sidebar.
I’m talking about rudeness! But, since one reader couldn’t find the alternate colorings for the Road to Llano post, let’s use that for an example. I remember that the title of the post was “Alternate Colors for Road to Llano” so I would put “alternate” in the search bar but since you didn’t write the post, you might not remember “alternate”. Simply put in Llano and yes, you’ll get every post where I mentioned this quilt or our trips to Llano but you will find the alternate colors post.
This is a good time to mention that with the Quilt Alongs, I will answer questions and help with problems during the Quilt Along but not afterwards. If someone writes me with a question/problem with a pattern we did 2 years ago, I can’t remember without delving deeply into the pattern. I think some of you would be surprised at the number of questions I get each day about older patterns or about finding something on the blog.
Really . . I’m not trying to be rude or unhelpful. Any time you can’t remember something and it isn’t something you can find on the blog, I’ll try to help. Yesterday a reader wanted to know my opinion about the new camera I bought recently. Of course she didn’t remember the brand (neither did I) so searching “camera” and finding the post would have been downright impossible because I probably mention “camera” too often. I looked at my camera to see the brand (Samsung) and then I searched the blog and sent her the link, along with some thoughts on the camera.
If you need to remind me of something . . like “On the Needles” post that I forgot on Friday, or remind me of anything I said I was going to do and then forgot, I welcome those emails! I’m not remembering things so well these days! 🙁
Please try your best to find things and if you have problems . . then contact me and I’ll do my best to help.

I for one appreciate all the help you give so freely…. I love your patterns….. They always turn out looking great and I know it is the designer because I make lots of tops and only your designs are always winners…….
Sorry to say that there are rude people everywhere you go. I enjoy reading about your day….. Please keep on sharing your life with the majority of us who appreciate them.

I learned to use the blog search feature from Bonnie Hunter. I cannot imagine how much time it would take to respond to everyone who writes to you with requests.. and I have never understood how you get so much done. Thoughtlessness seems to be fauirly common among blog followers. I’m glad you handle it so well. I was following a knitting blogger who stopped her video blogs (from Hawaii) because of extreme rudeness from some folks.. I was so sad. I hope people can take your post to heart. Thanks for all you do!

I agree with Susan! You are so kind to share with us and help wherever you can. Supposedly we are all adults and should be trying to find whatever we’re looking for ourselves! I think it could just be laziness but let’s all try to work together, be kind to one another and grateful to Judy for sharing so much of her creativity, talent and life with us!!
I know I am very grateful for all you do to share with all of us!
Regina says
You make me laugh – I was just talking with someone this weekend about people asking us to find information for them and us wanting to respond “Oh, is Google broken on your computer?” Love your “chatter” on all topics – and have used the search box a few times… much appreciated feature on a blog like yours!

I’m not Marion, but her other half. I’m not a quilter or knitter, but I do enjoy reading about the life and times of Judy and Vince. There’s hardly a day goes buy which I don’t find something enjoyable and/or interesting in at least one or more of your blogs. Thanks for sharing your life’s adventures with us. Ron.

Oh Judy…I’m so sorry you’ve had to put up with rudemess….I agree with the others in being so grateful for your willingness to share. I just found your blog a week or so ago and have been having a blast reading your posts…..AND using the search box for sourdough recipes and past guilt-a-longs. Try not to lose much energy worrying about thoughtless people….Love your blog…and so enjoy the quilts and the farm posts….I’m forever grateful.
Kathy Upton says
….ooops….hope that wasn’t a Freudian slip….quiltalongs….not guiltalongs….he he

I love ALL your posts. Yep – even the ones about snakes and worms. Thank you for sharing so much of yourself with us!

Spoon feed me, Judy!
Bless you! 🙂 Some days I don’t like people. I’ve been on the internet since the early ’80’s. I know not everyone has. “Search” makes things so easy, as long as people are willing to try!
I love reading your blog. I love seeing what you’re up to day-to-day. 🙂 I can’t wait until I can do what I want to (what I choose to do) each day like you. 🙂

Judy, even tho’ I haven’t built my stash up yet I love your blogs about your life. I always leave them laughing, and I know about rude people, having had personal experience with them in my own family. Please keep telling us about all of your adventures, as well as Vince’s. As much other things as you do I’m surprised you have time to write the blog, but please don’t stop. I live for these daily looks into the “Life and Time of Judy and Vince” and secretely wish Miss Hattie would get out again. Sorry Vince..

Well said! I wish I could write like you! We’re supposed to be big girls (and guys) here, and shouldn’t have to have our hand held. Good post 🙂
Pat Hathaway says
The reader who was rude might not have meant to be– I have been called “brusque”. For a long time I didn’t know what that meant, but I finally looked it up and it sounded like “rude” to me. I am very shy and don’t think anyone wants to be bothered with me so I tend to get my words out quickly before they turn away and that may “sound” brusque. That reader may write that way–I’m way too worddy when I write because I know I have your attention. LOL So, please don’t let your feelings be hurt–her voice may have been kind and sweet but her writing came out rude.

Ditto what everyone has said! I look forward to checking on what your up to! You often inspire me, and certainly entertain me. Just remember “sticks and stones” and ignore them! Micki

Sounds like lots of us like you just as you are. You make me laugh most everyday! And laughter keeps us happy…So ignore the rude people and remember those of us whose day you make brighter!

Sometimes it all get to be a bit much doesn’t it?? We’re all big girls (and maybe a few boys) and we should be able to do a simple search and scroll through a few posts.

Ok. Guilty. Sorry. I asked what kind of batting you like and after reading your post I did a search for “batting” and found great answers. Thank you! I’ll remember to go to search first, the next time!

Just hoping this little note will cheer you up and let you know how much your website means to me. You have helped me so much when I have questions, and my husband & I talk about you & Vince nearly daily.. Recently I purchased a grain mill, and without your advice and expertise, I am sure I would have made the wrong choice. When I read your stories about how you came to get so much wheat grains, I thought I would die laughing. You see, you have so much to offer and to teach us. Many times I thought to write you and tell you how much I value you and never did. Please know that you are valued and appreciated so much. So please never stop what you do for all of us. Love and Prayers to you and your family!!

I completely agree with Becky and Mary Jo…. Love all the stories about Vince, Chad, chickens, whatever! You make it all entertaining; keep it coming!

I get really peeved with people who pick on you, especially when you are so giving. I love coming here and reading your stories and the patterns and recipes are the icing on the cake. I figure for all the stuff you have figured out on your own, there are people who have a lot of guts trying to tell you how to live your life or upbraiding you because you didn’t make their life easier. Let me at ’em Judy! I’ve kicked a can or two in my day. ;D

I’m sorry you’ve had to deal with rude people lately! I love your blog so much, and really appreciate your sharing it with us. Here’s another search tip: if you put your mouse over a date on the Calendar of Posts, it will show the titles of all the posts for that day. Sometimes I find that easier to use than the search bar.

I’ve given up on the quilty stuff, you’ve turned me into a wannabe homesteader 🙂 I came here this morning & successfully searched & read up on crawdads, thanks so much! We tried to hand catch some this weekend, must be a little chilly yet in PA creeks but now I know how to purge & cook the little treasures! Thank you so much for your wonderful blog! My day is not complete until I check in (a couple times, haha)!

I think the world of you. When I grow up I want to be just like Judy! Really I do. I thank you so much for letting us peek into your world everyday. It’s my nightly laugh with all your stories. I am one that appreciates your personality and blog.

Thank you so much. I do thank you for all you do for us. I enjoy not only the patterns but the recipes and the stories of what’s going on at your place. I hope I didn’t come across as rude when asking how to get back to the alternate colors. I have never done a blog and had tried to search it my self. When I clicked on the Llano post all I got was telling when the clues would be available. When I put in alternate color choices LLano it came up empty. So I appreciate your telling me how to search for what I needed. My wonderful granddaughter was visiting today. Since I was still finishing the quilt on the frame she cleaned of my cutting table and organized me. Right down to the bare wood under the mat. Wiped it all off and set everything where it would be easy for me to reach. So I am all ready to began sorting my colors and cutting. Thank You.

Quite frankly I cannot imagine how you keep standing on your two feet when I read about everything you accomplish every day. I need a nap just reading about it. Hang in there though, we love hearing about what you do. And thanks for sharing all your talents.

If you never had a pattern, I’d still enjoy this blog. You love the lifestyle that I enjoy and if’s refreshing to listen – (well read – but feels like I’m hearing) to you relate your experiences.
thanks for sharing your life.

Judy, not sure why God made rude and unsensitive people in this world, but I guess we are just stuck with them. We all know and have them in our lives, but gosh, I’m like you, some days I just don’t need it or understand why. Myself, I am so glad that I got to meet you, read your blog and try to learn as much as I can from you. I know so little and you pass on some much good. And the laughs I receive from you are like blessings to me. Please keep up doing what you’ve been doing for years. When I can’t make everyone happy, I I just try for a happy moment and let the grumpies go to heck!!! It’s raining cats and dogs here so it will be great for my garden. May God bless you every day. He does mine and so do YOU!!!

Love all you do. I just learnt about the searchable thru Bonnie Hunter, when she was having the same problem with people wanting her to send links.
I like the “looking for something” and the button that says search Patchwork Times go.
I always thought the searchable took you back to the whole wide world trillion of things to search. So it was a nice lesson to learn, it is just on the blog. About your freebies, I have made one, hope to make another someday. I have your book too, wanting to make a couple from it, but I seem never to have the same hours in the day that you do. I think your day is a 36 hour long to my 15 hour one!
Have a great day,

Every so often a blog entry like this needs to be written. Your website is for your pleasure and some folks seem to forget this even though you mention it over and over again. Some folks are lazy, some are not computer savvy, some are not diligent, and they feel contacting you is the easiest way to meet their needs. All the while…thinking you have all the time in the world to find something for them or email them back! From following your blog I see a few things: 1. You are extremely busy!!! 2. You love to write!!! 3. You love your life!!! I, for one, am thankful you share your wonderful journey! It reminds me so much of the farm life I grew up with. I can fondly relate to your adventures. Love your blog!
