Vince and I met up with our delivery contact this morning and they now have the quilts.
They are going with a load of diapers, baby wipes, personal hygiene items and I forgot what all else they had on this load.
They were very happy to have our quilts to add to the items they’re going to be sharing. The folks said they felt the Shawnee area had been a bit forgotten with most of the news coverage on Moore and they have a friend who lives closer to the Shawnee area where they can stay so they’re going to be heading to the Shawnee area first. My guess is that they’ll find homes for all our quilts in Shawnee.
Not that it really matters but the man who had been my contact was trying to get the quilts all stacked neatly and he kept going on and on about each quilt. I think he wanted to open them all up and look at them. You know how sometimes folks look at a quilt just as they would a $10 blanket from the discount store? This guy didn’t . . he had a real appreciation for them so I think he will do as good a job as is possible to make sure they are all places exactly where they need to be placed.
The quilts that went to Hilary will be distributed in the West, Texas area and I’m sure I’ll be hearing more from Hilary about her efforts and I’ll share with you what I hear from her.
Thanks again to everyone who participated.

Wonderful, wonderful that the quilts are on their way and in loving hands to be received by welcoming recipients. Judy, you are amazing and Vince too to do all this. Don’t they look yummy in the car!

I spotted my quilt and I am so glad it’s going to Oklahoma. Really glad that there were more than enough quilts to go around. Thank you for all that hard work!

I’m glad to hear the person distributing is someone who has some sensitivity for both people and quilts.

i spotted my quilt too, and am glad to see it going to an area where it is needed. Between you and Jo I’ll be able to finally get caught up on all my backlog of quilt tops, and have them going where they will do some good, instead of just sitting around here. that’s a good load off my back because finally i won’t have to worry about where i’m going to store yet another quilt top.

Thanks for all your hard work. Without you, I would not have been able to get my quilt to someone who cam use it. 🙂

I think it’s wonderful that the quilts will go to people who were devastated by the Shawnee storms. They will be every bit as grateful as the people anywhere else. When one has faced such devastation, it’s horrifying whether or not it happens to be getting the most national news coverage.
