Because some of you have indicated that you will need to order fabric, I’ll go ahead and give you the fabric requirements. There were three shades of purple but for those ordering, it’s so hard to get three shades so I made a few changes and it will now only need two shades of purple. That should be easier for those ordering. In fact, in the one I made, I couldn’t find a third purple in my stash so I used two purples. These are straight out of EQ and have not been tested. They’re probably a bit generous but I find EQ7 to be quite accurate. If you wash your fabric before using, you may want to order a bit more.
Use this drawing as the guide to match up your fabric with my fabric numbers:
Fabric 1 – the lighter background – around the black/tan nine patches – 1-3/8 yards
Fabric 2 – the tan fabric – in the little nine patches, the squares around the inside edge, the first border. I also used this for the binding but that is not figured into the yardage – 2-1/2 yards. Add 3/4 yard for the binding
Fabric 3 – this is the light/medium purple, even though it appears gray – 1-1/2 yards
Fabric 4 – the medium/dark purple – 4 yards
Fabric 5 – black or, this could be an extremely dark purple – 2-1/4 yards (Or, if you’d like to use this for the binding, add 3/4 yards to this fabric.).
Click on the chart below to download a pdf file that can be printed, your own fabrics attached for ease of distinguishing which of your fabrics corresponds to my numbers.
The first instructions will be posted on Monday, June 3. That hopefully gives enough time for fabric to get ordered and arrive. I am not sure how long this will run as the instructions have not been divided up yet. I would hope to be finished by the end of June.

Thanks Judy. Gives me an idea as I see what I have or if I need to shop a little.

Ah! 3 blues, red and white will do it. I’ll use the green one as a color guide. Thank you!

Thank you Judy! I won’t be able to sew along, but I’ll save the directions as you post ’em and give myself a weekend mystery later this summer. You da bestest!

Hmmm. Maybe I’ll go with three greens (I have a lot) and some purple for an accent and then the background. You’re helping me use my stash-beyond-life-expectancy, Judy!

I’m in on this quilt, heading for the quilt shop this morning. Thanks for including the fabric chart, it helps so much when trying to remember what I purchased for where. Again, thanks for all you do and give to us.

I think I’m going to use Thimbleberries for mine….golds, greens and burgundy instead of purple, black and tan. Thanks so much for sharing this, Judy.
