This afternoon Vince had enough! He went around the chicken yard and found every possible spot through which he thought Miss Hattie could be escaping and he fixed them. She got out again and I saw where it was so he fixed that. I probably should not have told him that I saw it! When he put her back in, she ran to two or three spots and they had all been fixed. As of bedtime for the chickens, she had not escaped. I feel bad for her. She’s so used to spending all her time outside the run. I can let them all out when Vince is at work . . he reluctantly agreed to that . . but she isn’t going to feel special any more.
I’m not any happier about this new development than Miss Hattie is but . . I understand Vince’s frustration with her wanting to stay in the shop. I think it’s just because she’s so darned nosy and there are so many crooks and crannies and boxes in there. She loved checking it all out. Oh well . . she’s stuck in with the rest of the lowly chickens til Tuesday!

Poor Miss Hattie. I’m sure she feels like she is in jail now and doesn’t even know why. And not even a proper trial by jury.

Poor Miss Hattie! Maybe you can set up an interesting corner inside the chicken pen. It won’t have the same appeal, of course!

Or, I could dig her a little hole, or hide a file in a cake, and help her escape! 🙂

It’s too bad that Miss Hattie hasn’t managed to charm Vince … like she’s charmed you 🙂

I’ve caught up on your posts and laughed and enjoyed them all. You know I live in Houston – suburbs, but still Houston. I have chickens. We live in a subdivision. An old one and we have good neighbors, but I can so identify with a lot of your chicken shenanigans. Until you’ve owned chickens of your very own it’s hard to understand their appeal., but they are truly SO much more entertaining than television.

Just gotta love her independence! I’m feeling rather bad for her, but she is probably safer.

Aw, poor Miss Hattie! I do understand Vince’s frustration though. Chickens do tend to leave little blobs of fertilizer in their wake. 8P

Poor little sweet chicken!

Poor Miss Hattie! I don’t guess that she realizes that she is probably safer when she is i the chicken yard. Plus she has lots of friends to enjoy.

Just finished a book titled “Once Apon A Flock” by Lauren Scheuer who lives in MA and the chickens have to deal with snow. You should write a book about your flock.
