It’s been almost two weeks since I removed everything from half of my bottom kitchen cabinets. Some of it is in boxes in the bedroom. Some of it is in the sewing room and some of it is on the back porch . . probably full of spiders and scorpions by now. Wednesday the electrician came . . he had been the holdup. Yet, here’s what my kitchen still looks like!
Thank goodness it slides easily across my tile floor because when I need to cook, I slide it over in front of my work space, which obviously . . the cabinet door and drawers are still not painted and re-installed.
You will note that there are still various tools sitting on the countertop .. my precious little work area.
So . . today for lunch . . we’re having this:
Tonight for dinner, we’re having this:
And if that doesn’t get the kitchen project in high gear, there are plenty more equally such gourmet treats waiting in my pantry!
At this point, I think the dishwasher could be installed in less than 10 minutes. Or, at least shove it in the hole and get it out of the middle of the kitchen. Whose idea was this dishwasher anyway? 🙂 Seriously, I knew it would be a few days of chaos in the kitchen but my patience is wearing quite thin.
The really sad thing is . . Vince loves canned ravioli. I don’t and I rarely fix it so he may decide that stalling this project results in more ravioli for him.
Before we went to bed last night, Vince said “Do you need anything else from me today?” Hmmm . . yes . . maybe get that blasted dishwasher out of the middle of my kitchen! Nope . . didn’t happen.

What a mess! I would have told Vince that I needed a shoulder to cry on. Have a great day. Looks like we will be in rain off and on today.

Judy, you are so funny. I smypathize with you though. Remodeling is not fun! I don’t know how you get so much done. You are an inspiration to me with your unlimited energy and drive. Enjoy the day!

Canned ravioli—YUCK!
Laura says
That’s what I think, too!

Judy, my husband, like Vince, has Sicilian roots, and he also loves canned ravioli, cold, right out of the can. But even better in his eyes is canned spaghetti and meatballs, also right out of the can. I let him have his treat all to himself!
Quilter Kathy says
Good for Vince that he asked if you needed anything else!
Bad for you that he didn’t do it!
Love your strategy of not cooking as enticement, however you need to use some canned food that he really hates!

Our DD still LOVES Spaghettios at almost 22… I can’t take that awful smell! It gets so frustrating when home projects stall… I hope you have a working dishwasher soon.

Judy, how would Vince feel about canned spinach with a few boiled eggs on the side? Or maybe a Spam sandwich? Or a can of sardines? Then tell him you need to save the cans for a project you are toying around with so he will have to wash them for you. As a last resort, there’s anchovy paste on crackers, maybe. Just don’ t reward him with things he really likes. Most of the time you have to get to the guy through his stomach. Good luck. Been there, done that, and it’s sure not fun.

You are hilarious! I showed it to my husband, he was NOT impressed. He thought you were going too far and surely Vince had no control over the kitchen mess. It had to be someone else’s fault and why punish Vince? LOL How funny, sometime I do agree with the whole women/men and Venus/Mars stuff.
Just so you know all this was said with laughter. 🙂

Judy – having lived in a state of remodel for…. you don’t want to know how long, trust me, it’s enough to make you cry! I DEFINITELY understand and empathize with you! And I agree with whoever it was that suggested SPAM, or canned spinach, etc. You can probably get the idea across with that – where with me it is my wonderful son who is doing the remodeling – and who has yet to finish one set of shelves begun almost 6 months ago! (told ya, you didn’t want to know how long!) This goes right there with the greenhouse that didn’t get put up this year (it rolled across my lawn – end for end – during Hurricane Sandy – last year and was trying to climb the fence by the time I got out there to dismantle the derned thing! (I wanted shelves and grow-lite – NOT a greenhouse – which was son’s idea. Now he thinks shelves and gro-lites are a wonderful idea – HIS idea!!!!! Go figure!

Ew, that canned ravioli makes me cringe. My husband would like the canned Spam however. He likes the blue box of mac & cheese too. I think you’re going the right direction with the cans — nobody could be expected to cook in a torn-apart kitchen!
Linda Steller says
I hope you get it taken care of soon, Judy!
Diana says
LOL .. dear Hubby would love the canned good stuff .. LOL I only like it when we are camping ! LOL and then not very much of it.
Susan says
Keep focusing on how nice it will be when it’s all finished. I understand your frustration, having gone through a major remodel/add on and waiting for this, that and the other person. It is going to happen!

Love you, lady! You can always make me smile!
