All the gardening — the hoeing, the weeding, the covering with buckets during those late cold snaps, the mud, the bugs, the critters . . all the work in the garden . . this is what it’s all about!
A cherry tomato and an early little Porter. Nothing beats the taste of a home grown tomato and the first ones of the season . . oh, my . . they are so good!
Just to prove what I good wife I am . . Vince got the big one and I ate the little one. I was tempted to quickly rinse them off and eat them both before he ever knew they were ripe but that wouldn’t have been very nice. There’s going to be a steady stream of them for the next few months. There are quite a few of them starting to get ripe and they get red quickly once they start turning.
We love fresh tomatoes!

Those tomatoes sure look good. I can’t wait for the tomatoes here to start. We haven’t even planted any yet but within the next month, they should be in the ground. Greenhouse tomatoes have a weird colour and the flesh is mushy and tasteless. Tomatoes ripened by the sun are delicious!.

Now your really making me hungry for a blt. Have my tomatoes in the ground and kept them from freezing two nights ago. Pear tree didn’t freeze WHEW!! but it was close. Have most other things in the ground now, but most not up yet.

How wonderful! Mine haven’t even flowered yet, and a couple might have been drowned with all the rain last weekend. =P The ones in the store today were just not appealing at all!
