Today’s instructions:
1. From the background fabric, cut 6 – 1-5/8” strips. Cut these into 72 – 1-5/8” x 2-3/4” rectangles.
2. Sew a strip to the left and right side of the four patches from Instructions #3. Press the seam allowances towards the background rectangles.
3. From the dark gold fabric, and the light gold fabric, cut 2 – 1-5/8” strips. Cut these into 36 light gold 1-5/8” squares and 36 dark gold 1-5/8” squares.
4. To the remaining 36 1-5/8” x 2-3/4” rectangles, sew a light gold square to the left side and a dark gold square to the right side, as shown below. Press the seam allowance towards the background rectangles.
5. Sew the units from #4 to the unit from #2, as shown below. Make 18.

ARGH! i messed up my cutting on the 4 patches (too many hubby inturruptions, i think) so my 2 3/4 rectangles don’t match. Darn it.
Starting over from square one on Monday.

Well, I wasn’t going to do this because I have so many projects going already but I did. I have a question. How do you fan the seams on the little four patches? That is new to me. I have never made a quilt with this small of pieces. So far it is going good. Thanks for sharing. I have learned a lot from reading your blog and I really appreciate all your help.
