We all know that Miss Hattie has her very own spot where she lays her eggs. She’s quite protective of her spot. Even if she isn’t laying, and there’s no egg there, she doesn’t want any other chickens near her spot and she’s quite vocal if she feels her space is being violated.
Yesterday I heard the most awful screeching and squawking and went running out to see what was going on.
These two chickens were leaning around, looking at Miss Hattie, whose nest is right behind those boxes.
I could just hear those two hens conspiring . . “Let’s sneak up on her and watch her lay her egg!”
Who would ever have thought chickens would aggravate each other so much, or be aggravated so easily. Miss Hattie definitely does not like her space being violated. For so long, she was the only hen who ever got out and now that we’re letting them all run loose, I’m not sure she likes it one bit.
