For those who have been having a bit of envy over our gardening weather, every area has its problems. This past Wednesday morning, about mid-morning, it was 35º. Here’s part of our forecast for next week
When the night temps get into the mid-70’s, tomatoes stop producing. When the day temps get into the mid 90’s potatoes die off. This is the reason we were so anxious to get things planted as soon as we could.
These temps won’t stay but it won’t be long til they will be here to stay.
Sometimes I wonder whether it’s even worth the effort to try to garden in a climate like this – but I know I will keep on gardening. It’s just pretty frustrating to have those late frosts and now temps nearing 100 degrees in mid-April.

I agree crazy weather but we have to live with it. At least I got 3 Moro blood oranges this spring and the tree is loaded with blossoms. We planted a lemon to replace the one that we lost 3 winters ago.
We are on the southeastern coast of SC.
Here’s to a productive harvest for you.

Just came in from shovelling snow. We got 23cm. over night. Not sure which weather I would rather have because 96 degrees is way too hot. I do envy you being out in the garden though. We sre in zone 3 and can’t plant before the end of May, beginning of June.

Am WAAAAAY behind you – however son brought over the tiller today – originally said HE was going to till for me. Somehow that morphed into MOM tills while son goes elsewhere and paints! (He’ll check back in from time to time). Guess I shouldn’t have been backseat driving the tiller so much!

(I hit post entirely too soon!) Right now I have almost half the garden tilled – managed to kill the tiller – which is a beast to start! Taking a break while I catch my breath, wipe sweat from my brow (to heck with the more dainty “perspiration”!), drink water and take other necessary breaks! Will head back out shortly to try doing the OTHER half of the garden in just a few!

SNOW in the Colorado mountains and rain here on the western Slope. Supposed to dump quite a bit in Denver (hehe- better them than us!). I brought in all my new herbs from outside last week and they are sitting below the rubber plant in the kitchen. Been watering them with the rainwater we are getting lately. Hubs wants to get the potatoes in the ground after all the freezes are over with. All I know is I am so ready for Spring/Summer so I can play in my garden. Tired of the El Nino or La Nina effect of weather lately.

How frustrating. Our temperatures have been fluctuating a lot this year. It hasn’t been like this in previous years that I’ve lived here, so I’m hoping this is the odd year! We had two really hot humid days last week that burned half the leaves on my Jade. =P That’s not happened here before!

It is cod and wet here, spring is late this year but no way do I want 90+ degree temps in April!
