My guess is that everyone here knows “the new Millennium” is an APQS Millennium longarm quilting machine but . . I figured I’d better make that clear.
It was shipped from APQS on Friday, April 5, and was scheduled to be delivered Wednesday morning. “Delivery” means . . dropped at the end of your driveway. That’s a good distance from the house and Wednesday morning, it was supposed to be cold and drizzly. Vince asked me to call the freight company and see if they would deliver it Friday afternoon because he was taking half a day off work to get the pipe fence painted. The freight company was so nice . . they were fine with bringing it on Friday. Further, the driver was happy to drive all the way back here in his truck but there’s no way he could turn around. Vince took his pickup down to the highway/end of the driveway and met the truck. They loaded everything onto the pickup.
We brought all the boxes into the sewing room and then it was time to go eat because we were going to eat catfish in Blanket. Then Vince decided he needed to stop at Wal-Mart. We were there for well over an hour. Then he decided he needed to stop at Kroger. I just wanted to go home and put the quilting machine together. He had been painting all afternoon so I figured I’d just tag along through Wal-Mart and Kroger and keep quiet.
With all the “stuff” I have in the sewing room, there’s not much room to walk anyway but with the added machine parts, Vince was pretty frustrated with all my “stuff”. Yarn! Everywhere, there’s yarn! In boxes, out of boxes, on the floor, on the sofa . . yarn . . too . . much . . yarn!
We got it about 2/3rds put together last night before he was getting tired and a bit grumpy.
My previous Millennium was a 2004 model and APQS has definitely made some improvements as far as ease of putting together.
Later today I’ll have pictures of it all put together and the sewing room somewhat put back together.

Well hubbies can get grouchy from time to time, especially when we work them to much. And Vince is a worker, I’ve one too…we are blessed!
Let us know when you get to play on the Millennium. I would love to have room for a long-arm and the money to buy one. Should have done that years ago, before retirement! lol
So have fun!
Hugs!

Hi Judy! I’m so excited for you and your new Millennium. What impresses me most in this post is the friendliness of Texas delivery people. There just doesn’t seem to be a problem with attitudes and helpfulness as there is in other parts of the country. It must be because life is slower in Texas? Not the rush-rush-on-a-deadline-can’t-stop-to-help-anyone rat race we have in the city! Have fun today!!!

People really are so friendly here and I never hear “You aren’t from here, are you?” It’s very easy to love living here.

I am so happy for you!!!

Thanks, Erin!

Which threads came with the new machine?
JudyL says
A lot of thread! There’s Fil-Tec Glide, as well as two magnetic core Fil-Tec bobbins. There’s a cone of Aurifil size 30 variegated poly, two cones of Aurifil 50 wt., one cone of Aurifil 40 wt., one Superior MasterPiece pre-filled bobbin, a sample cone of King Tut, a cone of So Fine and a cone of Superior’s Omni thread (poly wrapped poly core), which I’ve never used before.

Judy if you haven’t ever had the magna glide bobbins you are going to love ’em. I use them in my embroidery machine. They are wonderful. Glad you are going to enjoy your new machine. You would think with the price of those machines, they should have someone to put it together for you as part of the price. 😀

You do have an awful lot of yarn!! A new longarm is so exciting. You’ll have that pile of quilts quilted in no time. My Gammill Premier is only a few years old and lightly used so I don’t hanker after a new machine. A longer table would be nice but I only have room for the 10 ft. and that’s just barely. I have to move it end to end and side to side when I’m working. But I’m not complaining, I’m just happy to have it.
Jo Anne says
Judy, ever since I tried Aurifil 50 wt thread, I have phased out all other thread and stocked up on Aurifil. I like it because it is not as coarse as other threads of the same weight. That is all I use for piecing now. My seams are more accurate because they press so nicely and lay flat with the Aurifil thread.
Congratulations on your new Millennium. I am leaning heavily toward getting one myself. I will make my final decision at the HMQS show next month. In the end, it may come down to which company will give me the best package deal.

I love the big red bow!

How delightful! This is where I’ll need help. My last one, I came home from school and Paul and the man from whom we’d bought the machine had it all put together in my studio. Sigh. But not for a while, yet!

I have a 2004 Liberty…no plans to replace it, but the wheels and carriage on the new ones are so sleek looking! I did get new wheels but not the whole wheels system. This one has to last…..retired, and I quilt only my own.
you mentioned Hobbs 80/20. That is pretty much the only batting I keep on hand. I like Legacy but can’t find it on large (or 9 yard ) rolls. Looking forward to hearing about your new machine.

Congratulations, wish you many happy quilting hours (tangle and trouble free).
