What is it about a challenge that I cannot walk away from? The Loopy Ewe‘s second quarter challenge is to do something stranded, uses less than 500 yards and only 2 colors. First, I’ve never done stranded work. Second, I don’t need any more yarn and I surely don’t need another project. I looked through Ravelry and probably considered 30 or more patterns. Then I said . . no! I’m going to skip the second quarter challenge because MadMay is coming up (Madelinetosh knitting marathons during the month of May) and then Camp Loopy starts June 1 and runs through August.
But then . . the “challenge” got the best of me!
In the end, Fjord by Paulina Popiolek, won out and that’s what I’m going to do. The yarn ordered for the project is Cascade Superwash Sport and the colors are Daffodil and Banana Cream . . a golden yellow and a light yellow, which will go with one of Nicole’s coats.
Another pattern that caught my attention, but has nothing to do with the challenge was this:
Wurm . . I’m sure in another language it doesn’t mean “worm”, but . . maybe it does. I think it looks like a fun hat to knit, as well as wear.
Anyone else doing Loopy Ewe’s second quarter challenge? If so, what are you making?

Glad to see you chose Fjord after seeing my Ravelry post. Are you making the hat or the cowl…or both? Nicole sure is lucky! My yarn is out for delivery! I’m going to do the cowl for the challenge. I’ve looked at the Wurm pattern several times – very versatile.

I’m making Alais in Cascade 220. I picked out a darker brown and a tan. Also coming along are a couple skeins for the pooling challenge.

Isn’t it nice to have a DIL who appreciates the things you make for her? Also nice for you as you have someone to give your projects to

I’ve picked my pattern but have to decide on yarn yet. (and another box of goodies – blocking mat and some other fun – arrived today from Knit Picks! And my loom arrived yesterday. Plenty to keep me busy this weekend!

Looks fun. I have also looked at the Wurm pattern. Looks fun. Will sit this out-need to work on knitting socks!

I was really going to ignore this challenge because my one try at stranded color-work ended in much frustration. But now you’ve shown Fjord and the stranded work is only on nine rows. That’s doable, right? Maybe I should? I never wear hats, but . . . . Oh, bother.

Haha! In German “Wurm” means worm indeed!
Have fun with your new project!

Pattern and yarn are ordered for my challenge project 🙂 I have a pattern saved in my Ravelry library that looks relaly similar to Wurm but each of those “bumps” is a different color. I thought it might be good for using up yarn eeftovers – plus i’s just a fun looking pattern.

“Wurm” is German and actually does mean worm;-). I think it looks a little like an earthworm. and I like the pattern, too.

No where need your level of knitting. Just learning to do lace and working on my first shawl – simple K/P affair with ML and MR increases. Start a hat making class Monday nught at my local Knitting shop which will be my first in the round project. Maybe one of these days I will be good enough to join you all in this type of challenges.

I have been waiting not so patiently to learn about the new challenge. I have never done stranded work but found fair isles headbands that seem to be a good beginner project My box of fun has been ordered. Not only did I buy yarn for TLE challenge but also for the MadMay challenge that is coming up.
