Do you remember that back in December we got a new grill? (That sounds like it should be a country/western song title!) Vince tried to forget but I wouldn’t let him. He put it all together when it first came in but it seems like every time we tried to use it, sometime else came up and we still hadn’t used it. Saturday I said “We are cooking pizza on the new grill TODAY!” We didn’t . . something else came up. Sunday I said “We are cooking pizza on the new grill Today!” And . . we did!
The main reason I wanted this grill was for doing pizza and bread.
The pizza dough is rolled out. The black olives are chopped. Sourdough is in the jars doing whatever sourdough does. Pizza and sourdough . . that’s what the new grill is for.
The pizza was great! It cooked about 11 minutes at about 475º. It had a great “rustic” taste, without a lot of smokey flavor. Exactly what I was hoping for. The grill is great! Pizza is one of the quickest and easiest things to make and it will be nice to cook it on the grill without heating pu the kitchen in the summer. When I make the pizza sauce, I open three quarts of tomatoes and cook that down and it’s enough for three batches of pizza sauce. I use one, freeze two and love it on the days I get to pull a container out of the freezer and let it thaw — no cooking, no simmering.
I could can the sauce but when I’m in the midst of all the tomato canning, it takes so long to simmer the sauce that it’s just easier for me to can the whole tomatoes and deal with them later.
We love pizza!

your pizza looks soooooo good. I do it on the grill in the summer and love it wish I had one of those paddles.

Your pizza looks sooo good! We’re making pizza for supper tonight, but in the oven. It’s a favorite of the teenage grandsons — they each make a whole one for themselves, and my husband and I split one.

The pepperoni and olives look good but what are the round pink things? I never would have thought to make pizza on a grill but what the heck, I’ll give it a try too. Always looking for new ideas. The oatmeal puck is one of my favorite ideas from you.

Yum, your pizza look delish! I make them in the summer in the oven and like to use the fresh veggies from the garden -tomatoes, zucchini, onions, mushrooms (store bought fresh ones), red & yellow peppers, little spinach leaves and lots of cheese and some seasonings on top. Wish it was summer now.

I think that’s Canadian bacon on there. We love making pizza in our house too. It’s a great way to use garden veggies.

We always have trouble getting the raw dough off the peel and onto the grill (or oven). We use cornmeal, but it still doesn’t work very well.
