Thanks to the many of you who have asked about Speck. He seems to be doing good. He’s losing weight on his low fat dog food, which he needed to do. Not sure if you can see how trim and fit he is in this picture.
He’s an old dog and he has a few medical issues but his pancreatitis seems to be under control. He isn’t hurting and he seems happy so that makes me happy. This dog has been my baby for almost 13 years now . . so you pet lovers know how it feels to watch him get older and more fragile.

Glad he’s feeling better. He looks comfy in his bed. So sweet.

I completely understand. My Thor is 10 and he is a very large Lab who is getting slower and limps along if he is a little too active, like running and playing w the dog across the street. He sleeps more too. So far, he doesn’t seem to be in too much pain but I know our time together is coming to an end in the next couple years and that makes me sad.
I’m glad Speck seems to be feeling better.

People who don’t have pets just can’t understand how they become a part of your life and family. Glad to know Speck is feeling better!

Judy, I understand.. Sophia turned 16 on 1/20, she is a toy poodle, her health is not the greatest.. She went to the vet on tuesday to get her teeth cleaned,, he pulled one of them also.. said that her kidney enzymes are up and starting to fail..She sleeps a lot but when she is awake she acts like a youngster.. Our Chesti a toy poodle also, will be 16 on Valentine’s day.. he is doing great except he sleeps a lot and his eye site is not the best at this time.. We raised them from a baby..

Do you know what “Speck” means in German ?

My Mom’s Yorkie has the same problem Speck has. He also won’t eat the special food she has to buy for him. Getting thinner and thinner. What does Speck eat? Will try almost anything.

We discovered that Tilly may have a problem ( the black one you met) witgh her liver. Will know more in another week or two. she’ll be 6 on her birthday (2/14). That’s been weighing hard on both of us. Happy to hear that Speck is doing well for his age and problems.

thanks for the update. I know how hard it is to watch a fir kid age. We all know that their life span isn’t as long as ours (hopefully) But its still hard to watch them be in pain and not be able to move like they used to. Just love him and keep him happy.

Well, I think I may be able to relate… We have two dogs that are almost 9 and almost 10 years old, and our cat (Willow) is almost 16! He is the one I’m most worried about, because he started to lose weight in late 2011. I can feel his spine now, but he does seem to be fairly healthy outside of the vomiting episodes…
Glad to hear Speck is doing well!!! He looks good & comfy on his “bed!”

oops, I guess it really IS a dog bed. I was thinking he was sleeping on a pile of fabric. Sorry ’bout that!

He looks pretty fit and trim in the picture. I tis hard to see them getting older, but I’m glad his pancreatitis is under control right now. I’m praying it stays that way!

I love the updates on Speck. He is such a cutie! I have 3 fur children and 3 children. Each are special in their own way. I lost a fur child 4 years ago, and I love her and miss her daily. It’s funny how they get ahold of our hearts and don’t let go. Have a great day and enjoy Speck!

He is very handsome! I know how you feel – my Lilly is only 7, but I can tell she’s not as young as she used to be but hope she stays healthy and happy for a long, long time to come.

Hiya Judy, I’m glad Speck is feeling better and doing so well. I did have to send my Sassy to the Rainbow Bridge on 1/21, the anniversary of my mother’s death, not a good day for me. Sassy turned 17 last October, so she was really a big part of my life. I have another little furbaby, Misty, that I rescued last September, knowing that I would need her support soon. I hope you have Speck many more years. Blessed be, hugs!!!

He’s looking mighty trim and dapper! Happy to hear he’s doing well – thanks for the update! We’ve got one that’s 14 so I know how hard it is to watch them age, but still, they bring us so much joy.
