Yesterday I was standing in the kitchen and I looked out the window as the cows were walking up. All four mama cows are supposed to be having calves. A couple of them were obviously pregnant but a couple of them just don’t look huge to me but . . what do I know.
But, with the mamas was one little calf.
I didn’t want to get too close. Daddy might be just protective enough to come through those six strands of barbed wire. It’s a little white faced calf! All four of last year’s calves were black just like the bull, and they were all boys. I hope at least some of this year’s crop will be girls but . . I didn’t get close enough to look at this new baby.
They didn’t stay long. They all watched me like I was a danger to them. But, isn’t that a cute little calf. I’ll keep watching to see if the rest of the mamas have their babies and I’ll report back.

Love to watch new baby calves! Thought it was about time you had some in the pasture!

There’s just something about baby calves, they’re just so dang cute.

Love baby calves – especially Herefords – their little white faces are so clean and their eyelashes are so long!

Calving season is one of my favorite times of the year. We usually have a dogie calf, and although that means the Mama can’t take care of it, I love being the foster Mama, but I get so attached to them.

City girl here. I’ve never seen a baby calf, but all babies are cute, even really, really big ones like your calf.

I like cows! I live in Florida cattle country, and when I have a choice of roads, I choose the one with the most cows. I noticed lots of babies on my drive this morning. It’s been a long time since I lived on a farm, but in high school I bought a couple of 3 day old calves and raised them-paid for part of my college education that way.The deal was that I paid for all their powdered milk, and took care of them in addition to my regular chores, and then I got the money from their sale. Thanks for the walk down memory lane!
