While my family and friends in southwest Louisiana are drenched and filling sandbags and moving antique vehicles to higher ground, here in central Texas, we’re giddy with all this rain.
Looks like it’s a bit late for any of the grass in the picture. That’s ok . . it was mostly weeds and cockleburs anyway and I don’t think you can kill a weed or a cocklebur, which I guess is a weed too.
I haven’t ventured out to the rain gauge but if I had to guess, I’d say we’ve had a bit over 3″. It’s been raining slowly . . no damaging downpours . . for over 24 hours. It can do this for 24 days and I won’t complain!
I’m betting the trees and weeds, definitely the garden, are as happy as are the humans for this slow falling rain.
Puddles everywhere! I think that blue bucket tends to end up in as many of my photos as do the water hoses. Who would ever have thought I’d be so happy to see rain that photos of puddles would be blog worthy?

that rain is supposed to come up to Kansas overnight sure hope so drove by the Little Arkansas River the other day and the weeds are as tall as me and no water at all… strange,…

Rain is good when you need it! It’s been gray all day with maybe rain today. Good luck to you and the garden. Micki

We’ve had a lot of little storms here in SoCal but not a great deal of rain–just enough to sprout some grass on the dry dry brown hills! Hoping for more rain!
The blue bucket is prettier than that trashcan in MO that always snuck into your photos 🙂

correct me if i’m wrong, but in the photo with the blue bucket, is that a crop of mistletoe growing in the tree?
and what is the little wooden structure on stilts next to the tree?

Rain, like the sun, is a life-giving element. We get so much of it during the winter here, but nary a drop in the summers recently. I don’t bother watering the lawn anymore and, as a matter of fact, I’m thinking of killing all the grass off and setting up some raised bed planters in the yard this year. Better to grow a garden than grass!

Photos of rain are ALWAYS blog worthy! I am envious. We were supposed to get that, but I guess we’re out of luck this time. Sigh. Nary a drop fell on our parched land.

We are getting rain too! Ours just started this morning. It can rain as long as it wants too. I will always consider rain as being blog worthy.

Supposed to be rainy & icy here tomorrow morning, then just rain, later turning to snow. Sounds like a very messy day, but we’ll take it. The moisture is needed so much.

All desert dwellers love pictures of rain and puddles. =) I’m glad you are getting it. I know Texas has been so dry!

The rain is just now getting here in south central Kansas. I hope it rains all night and all day tomorrow — we sure do need it!
