Don’t forget that New Year’s Day, we’re all going to forget that anything else in the world exists and we’re going to sit and sew all day and make QOVs. As I get ready to sew my little fingers to the bone, I’m cutting 2-1/2″ strips.
These are the fabrics I’ve chosen for my project — some ecru, some light red, some light blue, some red and some blue!
This is a piece of fabric that I’ve had quite a while and have tried to use but never seem to find the right spot. I’m thinking I can use this for the inner light border.
I have big plans . . they might involve making more than one quilt. Reality is . . I hope to get one done but will do my best to get more than one done.
Who’s planning to sew QOVs with me on New Year’s Day?
Carolyn says
I’ve actually got one mostly done, just need to finish it. It is for a friend of my DD. The girl is on her 2nd tour in Aftgan.

I am!
Kate says
I’ll be working on mine.
Debbie says
I am actually going to take some time and get strips ready to sew some blocks. I think I should take the time for myself on New Years Day to do something good! 🙂 Must go back and look at the details for this project. Thanks, Judy.

I’ll be finishing one that day. =) If it’s finished early, I have a second one to finish.

Thanks for the inspiration ! Without setting a date and time,
Nothing happens. I have not completed a QOV yet this year.
I ran across 11 of 12 red/white/blue blocks completed from a quilt shops BOM. I would love to knock that out!

I’ll be in the “hen house” sewing my first QOV just because you set the goal. Thanks much for reminding me this cause is important enough to not just give lip service too but take action and do something tangible to thank our service men.
Harriett says
I’ll be sewing with you, off and on. I’ve been cutting my strips today. I plan to be totally prepared.
Cindy Stowe says
I’m in….got a mess of red/white/blue strips ready to go!

I’ll be working on the binding of a QOV quilt that I put together a couple of months ago, and just got it back from the long-armer. Hopefully it will be done on New Years Day, because our quilt guild meets the first Wednesday of the month. My SIL will have to take it to turn in, because I have choir practice at church on Wednesday this week…..drat!

I will be sewing with you, but working on a QOV that I started earlier this year and haven’t finished yet. Our first QOV meeting for 2013 is on Thursday next week and I want to turn in this one. I will print the pattern for this one and start cutting the strips later in the month. Thanks for the free pattern for QOV. I usually end up quilting more of them for others than getting to actually piece a whole top myself. This will be a treat when I get to start it.
Debra says
Count me in. I have lots of scraps that need us up.

Our weekly sewing group will be working on QOV on NY Day. I started earlier this week when I discovered your free pattern called Carpenter’s Star. Your pattern looks great with the patriotic fabrics. Thank you for all your encouragement through 2012.

Count me in! I’m hoping to get at least one quilt top done. I want to make a dozen QOV’s this year. Gotta start some time 🙂
Linda Steller says
I’ll be sewing with you Judy! I bought a layercake and some extra yardage some time back for the express purpose of making a QOV. I think it’s high time I made one instead of just quilting bunches of them. Somehow, I think it will feel more special when I’ve actually made the quilt. Plus, what could be better than sewing with one of my best on-line friends? ;D
