We were gone the entire afternoon and got home after dark. That happened once before and Miss Hattie was up on the top of the run with Sally so I went out there and Sally was there but Miss Hattie wasn’t there. I called her and called her and she was nowhere. I came in and asked Vince to help me look for her but he was headed out to put up the other chickens so I went out and started calling her and I heard her begin to cluck and I found her. She was planning to spend the night on one of the horizontal beams for the carport. I was able to get her and safely put her in the coop so nothing can get her tonight.
Not only was I upset at the thought of her being left out all night, I was not wanting to have to tell all the Miss Hattie fans that she was missing.
But . . all is well. She’s safe and we’ll be darned sure we’re home before dark from now on.

oh! does that mean that you have to be home every night to put her in or do you have someone handy to let her in and out when you ‘and vince travel?

You are just so CUTE! And a good Momma hen.
Lori says
You might need a chicken sitter for the few times you are away. Lol. Worse than KIDS, sometimes I Think. I had a flock of sitters for my cats and dogs, and I was only gone 3 nights. Morning person, afternoon, person and night person.

Whew! Bet there was a moments of panic…your little girl was missing! Glad she is safely tucked away for the night, safe.
Carolyn says
That gave me a moment of panic too! although she can’t live forever, I would hate to hear of her being someone’s dinner while you were out!

Glad Miss Hattie is safe,
Mary in VA says
Glad she had found a safe place to roost for the night and that you found her before she had to do so. She sounds like a very sweet hen.
Doe in Mi says
Glad to hear your baby is safe.

I know how to call cats and dogs but…how do you call a chicken? Not that Miss Hattie is just ANY chicken.
