Grandbaby Pictures

Did someone ask for pictures of Adalina?  Oh, please . . don’t twist my arm!  🙂

A yawning baby!

This is my current favorite picture of her!

Every time I see that picture, I want to start packing for a trip to Missouri!

Nicole is so good about sending me pictures real often.  Every day I’m thankful for that girl!  They got some bad news this week.  Her mom hadn’t been feeling well, went into the ER with what they thought was appendicitis but in they process, she was diagnosed with colon cancer.  They don’t know any details yet and are hoping to find out more on Wednesday.  Please say a prayer for her mom and the family.  There are two daughters.  Nicole’s sister is away at college and I know she’s having a hard time being away and dealing with it.

When Chad went into management with Wal-Mart, I hoped that Nicole would be ok with all the moving that will be required.  Moving often is all Chad has ever known but Nicole was born and raised in the same little town .  . where her parents, grandparents, aunt, uncle and cousin live.  Within two weeks of moving way, they get the news about her mom.  Even though they’re only two hours away, their only vehicle is Chad’s truck and with a four month old baby, being any distance from home at a time like this just adds extra heartache and stress.  I feel so bad for Nicole.  Yesterday when she got the news, she said all she wanted to do was go to bed and cry but Addie wouldn’t go down for a nap and Chad was working his usual 12 – 14 hour day.  She’s a strong, smart and level headed young lady so she’ll handle it but I so wish we lived closer so I could be there when she needs a break or dinner cooked, or a shoulder to cry on!

My next scheduled trip is in January but I can go any time they need me to be there so if Nicole truly needs me, I’ll be there in 10 hours!

  1. Oh Judy Addie is a blessing and a twinkle in anyone’s eye to look at! I am so sorry to hear about Nicole’s mom! I know about the management as my husband being in retail management big box! Long days! Now she is moving too! Lot to handle for the two of them. Prayers headed their way!

    I will also pray that somehow Nicole can get a vehicle of her own so that she can go see her mom as often as she can. . I believe in the power of prayer!

  10. The first picture makes her look like she’s growing up way too fast and the second…well that’s just one of those perfect bundle of sweetness, awwwwwww photos :). Will offer some prayers for Nicole’s mom & family.

  11. Oh, absolutely, yes, prayers will be ongoing for Nicole’s mom, for Nicole and her family.

  12. 10 hrs…….or less if your foot gets a little heavy & you “forget” to set the cruise control.
    I can always look at grandbaby photos…and Addie’s such a cute little thing.

    • Nope, I NEVER speed. I figure it’s not for me to decide which laws apply to me and which do not. I set my cruise exactly on the speed limit and if I need to get there sooner, I leave earlier.

      When Chad was little, one day it occurred to me that everything I do is an example to him. If I say it’s ok to break the speed limit by going 5 or 10 miles over the speed limit, who’s to say that shoplifting is wrong . . so long as you’re just taking something that costs $1 or less? The laws apply to everyone equally and because everyone else does it doesn’t make it ok. As a parent, I had to walk the walk and not just talk the talk.

      • Good for you, Judy! I always look at children in the car of a rude driver (city driving) and think “you’re not just being rude, you’re teaching that person it’s acceptable, as long as you get YOUR way.” I never applied that to speeding. Duh!

  13. It is so hard when our children hurt and we don’t live close.
    I grew up in the same house and lived there until Ray and I married and would have been happy to always live there ( I thought). Ray on the other hand is like a nomad. My sisters don’t understand how I stand to move so much. I don’t like it, but I like my husband and his paycheck so I follow along. 🙂

  15. Judy she is so darn cute she gets cuter each photo you show us if that is possible.. I hope they can do surgery and get the cancer gone and all will be ok. They can do so much these days. Colon cancer isn’t a death sentence anymore like it was back in the 80’s and 90’s. So prayers are coming all their ways.

  18. Judy, this just crushes me. I hope that the kids can put a safe vehicle for Nicole at the top of their list. I know how difficult it will be for them but feel that it is important for her to be free to go as she needs too. Certainly add my prayers for her, her mom and dad as well. I will pray for them all.

  24. My usual morning of reading your blog has turned very sad. I feel so sorry for the whole family, but those two girls, away, at this time is especially hard for everyone. I do hope for a good report and yes, do go and help in January when you are needed. All our best, Judy, for your little family.
