Vince has this uncanny ability to come up with plans that take me away from the sewing room on the days that I’m most determined to sew. We’re kinda halfway looking for a weekend place on the San Saba River. Don’t ask me why because when you have chickens, you cannot be gone for one day or two days or three days and unless we’re planning on taking them with us, we can’t go anywhere but if it makes him happy to look at places he finds . . then I’ll do it.
This morning he called and wanted to go to San Saba. Hmmm .. I was kinda planning on sewing all day! And then he said . . we can eat lunch at Pepperbelly’s! OK . . now you’re talking! So, we went to San Saba. I do really like the little town. It’s kinda like going back in time. They don’t have a Wal-Mart or Kroger but they do have Sonic. And, they have Pepperbelly’s! 🙂 So, I could live there or, I guess I could have a weekend place there . . especially since we could never go because we have chickens!
There was a little sewing done before we went exploring and then a lot of sewing done once we returned. I sewed all the framing squares to the framing strips and got the insides of two blocks done.
Then I started quilting the Deep in the Heart of Texas quilt. This will be donated to the United Way auction next month so I have to get it finished soon. I hoped to get it at least halfway quilted but I got it ALL quilted!
Tomorrow I hope to get the center part for all 20 of the Sing a Happy Song blocks done, get the Deep in the Heart of Texas top trimmed and the binding attached. Let’s just hope I get to stay home and sew all day.
I have steaks out to grill for dinner. We’ll have beans (which we bought at the Mexican restaurant today) and baked potatoes . . no work at all! Vince has salmon marinating and he’s going to smoke that tomorrow so we’ll have that for lunch. Should get lots of sewing time!

Sounds like a productive day, even if you did take a trip in the middle of it. I managed to get some sewing done tonight while my son was out, and now have binding on 3 quilts to finish.

I almost finished quilting a quilt. I just have a little touch up work and it will be off the frame in the morning. I love your Texas quilt. What panto is that? Hope you have another productive day tomorrow.

I couldn’t stop chuckling as visions of you and Vince taking all the chickens with you to a weekend place popped into my head. I just love the way you write!

You’ve been busy!! I see you used the Square Spiral panto on the Texas quilt. You love it even more than I do. When people with farm animals go away for a weekend or vacation they usually have somebody come to their place twice a day to take care of the animals…either family or a good friend or someone hired.
