Probably everyone who uses WordPress for their blog . . except me . . knew this already but today I was sewing . . making lots of progress, and I thought . . there has to be a way to add links to my sidebar without having to code it all in! This is exactly why I would have been on medication if it was around when I was a kid. I cannot keep my mind on any one task.
Any time I try to do anything using code, I screw up everything. My first thought was to send my request to blog designer extraordinaire, Sara, but I knew she would stop what she’s doing and help me and I figured with just a little effort, I might could figure it out on my own. So, I stopped sewing and I googled “widget for adding lists with links to sidebar”.
And look what I did . . look next to the flowers:
A list for Completed Quilts and Completed Socks and no telling what else I’ll think of to put there. You know how much I love lists! If you hover over the links (on the real blog . . not on the picture) my “blurb” about the project will appear. Or you can click on the link and see what I have there. Before anyone asks, I’ve finished more than one pair of socks and more than one quilt but I have priorities . . yes . . priorities. I have things that have to be done before I can go dig through the posts and find completed projects.
I’m so excited that I figured that out! Are you excited about that? OK . . I understand! I’ll go back and sew some more blocks.

The internet is a wonderful thing.. between Google and Youtube you can learn anything! And then there are the blogs to read. How you get so much done is mystery to me …

The first couple of web pages I made I typed in all the code. Tedious? Yes, but not really that hard. And it taught me to read the code and when something on a page wasn’t working right I could go to the source code and tell pretty quickly what’s wrong. Since using a “what you see is what you get” web editor I’ve gotten seriously out of practice with the code and now with blog-type pages I’ll get really spoiled. Isn’t it great though that when we want to learn how to do something that we can do a web search and almost always accomplish what we need to?

I typically type in my own code, but that’s because I’m so used to doing it. It’s nice to have a little widget box to do it in, though! =) I’m excited that you figured it out! I was looking for the little pink flowers on the real blog and don’t see them.

No, that’s one thing I don’t think you can be called is slow. I can demonstrate slow. Congratulations on teaching yourself new things.

Good for you! What a neat feature.
Now……..Under the heading “Free Patterns”; you list Nicole’s Quilt. I clicked on the picture; and the list of parts ie: hour 1 etc. comes up;…..however you can not click on each one to get the directions. I have tried going back over all your postings to get the directions, but I wonder if you intended that the full directions be in the “Free Patterns”.

Isn’t it great when you figure out how to do something on your own? Last time my computer was acting up I decided that since my IT guy (AKA my son) is heading to university this month, I’d better figure out how to fix it myself. Google is your friend 🙂

Hey Judy – Finally mixed up my sour dough starter. Starter is from the Naples area – I’m Italian and in love with pizza Margerita (since we ate it in Naples this past March). We built a proofer box out of a styrofoam cooler and light bulb. We repurposed my greenhouse thermostat to control the temp. And an indoor/out door thermometer to watch the temp. (repurposed from my chick incubator) And a My retired chemical engineer husband is IN CHARGE watching the minor fluxuations!!! LOL

I’m using Firefox–and my screen must be different from yours–because I don’t see a section for “followers”–the only way I’ve been able to follow is to put your blog in my Google Reader. (Yes, I realize I could subscribe, but I haven’t.)
However, I do like that you are posting quilts and knitting accomplishments in the sidebar.

Dora: I’m not sure what you’re talking about with the “followers” that you’re looking for. I don’t have that on my blog.
