Just when I think I’m ready to settle in for a weekend of knitting . . things change! The Camp Loopy Project #3 yarn arrived today.
Two Glazed Pecans and one Plaid Blanket. Oh, how I love Madelinetosh anything but especially Tosh Merino Light. I placed it gently on the bed and was trying not to let the drool drip onto the wool yarn and from the corner of my eye, I caught a glimpse of the two skeins that I had chosen for the West Mystery. Oh, darn! They looks so blasted similar. Do I really want to use tan and green in both projects?
Probably not! Back to the yarn buckets. What on earth shall I choose? The colors cannot blend or match for the mystery and yes, it started today and yes, I sneaked a peak at the spoiler pages and now I have a better idea of what I’m needing.
I checked my trusty list of yarn on hand to see if I had two skeins of anything else in Tosh Merino Light. I did! One color definitely requires 2 skeins. The other requires 410 yards and these skeins have 410 yards so I wouldn’t want to do it without two skeins of both . . just in case I ran short.
I have two skeins of Baltic and I love that rich blue! I have two skeins of White Wash but I don’t think these two do anything for each other.
I have one skein of Ivy and if I had a second skein of that, I’d use it with Baltic.
Back to the Wollmeise bucket. I have these two but last year I made a shawl that’s red/gray/black. I don’t need two!
This shawl could have been finished in the amount of time I’ve been messing with yarn and you wouldn’t believe the mess I’ve made digging through everything.
I do believe I’m going to close my eyes and pick something!

I think the Baltic and the White Wash look great together! Also the Glazed Pecan is gorgeous-I think I’ll order me some! Enjoy your evening-I too, am finishing a knitting project(socks).

I vote for the Baltic and White Wash too! Although it may be too high contrast for some people. Or how about the Baltic and glazed pecan or the gray?
Karen Sutton says
Love the Baltic & Ivy
Melinda in CT says
I also think the Baltic and White Wash look great together. Or use the Glazed Pecan and Plaid Blanket now and worry about the West Mystery later.

I think you ought to use the lime green and purple. You love those colors and you haven’t done one with them. Stephen’s patterns are always great. I am sure the mystery will be really neat.
Kathy says
What about the Glazed Pecan with the Baltic?
Mel Meister says
huh? How did you get the yarn the same day you ordered it?
JudyL says
I ordered it Wednesday and got it Friday.

No matter what color combo you pick , it is going to be gorgeous! I would love to run my hands across that yarn. Scrumptious!
Lynne in Hawaii says
I kinda like the Baltic and White Wash together too!

if you’re really not sold on the Baltic with the White Wash, how about trying Lapis with the White Wash?

it’s not as harsh a contrast, yet it still retains the blue and white look.
and yes, i would definitely go with the glazed pecans and the plaid blanket. those two look wonderful!!!

I love that last color combination. Gorgeous!!
If you don’t mind me asking, how do you know how much yarn to buy when you’re not sure what you’ll be using it for? I’ve been quilting for two years and have a handle on buying fabric for my stash. But I’m a very new knitter and have no idea how much yarn to buy!
