Wait til you see what I’ve done with my guest room! When I say *I*, what I really mean is Sherwin Williams’ ChipIt! and Vince! And in that post, leave a comment about a picture you’d like to “chip” for a chance to win a $1,000 Visa gift card!
You know I’m using my Ruby picture –
Today Vince and I were in Big Lots, which has become one of my favorite stores. I was passing down an aisle and I turned and looked and saw this chair!
Vince said it has too much gold but I think with the Sand Beach colored walls and the yellow-y beige carpet, this chair would be perfect. Only problem is . . the room is kinda small. We’re waiting for one more piece of furniture to be delivered and then I’ll make a decision on the chair.
When I whipped out my “chipped” picture of Ruby, there was a lady standing there and she wanted me to explain to her how I got those color chips next to my picture so I explained to her, then I gave her my blog address and told her how to find my ChipIt! posts and suggested she visit our local Sherwin Williams store.
What do you think? Does the chair go with my palette or not? Stay tuned . . you’ll see my whole new room soon.
Jeanne in Ohio says
I think it’s perfect. You don’t want it to be too matchey-matchey. Awesome!
Debbie Rhodes says
Love it… I
Patti Tappel says
Your chair goes with heartthrob beautifully!!!

Hi Judy, I love following your blog. Sometimes I would like to let you know I visited, but I don’t really want to take the time to write a note. I wonder if, as part of your new blog, you might have considered some sort of “like” button or some other feature for those of us that are lazy. :). Love your blog.
JudyL says
Heck no! I want you to quit being lazy and write me! That’s like saying “I almost visited you yesterday because I honked when I passed by your house!” Seriously . . I want my readers to talk to me. Goodness knows . . no one else talks to me! 🙂
Melody says
P.S. I love the chair.
Mary Jo says
I love the chair! It does have more gold in it than the palette does, but I think that it will work fine. You could maybe even incorporate a little of the gold into your quilt! I also love the fact that Ruby is your inspiration for the room!
Shirley Albertson Owens (sao) says
I think the chair is PERFECT! I think you need a framed picture of Ruby on the wall too – SERIOUSLY!

Donna says
Love the chair. I think it will look great even with the gold.
Claudia Wade says
I think the chair definitely goes with your chip it palette. All it needs is a throw or cushion on it in the pinky color from the palette and it will be perfect!
Marla says
Yes Yes Yes !!! I am honking and stopping in your driveway just to say hi and yes the chair would be awesome!
Marky says
guess I’m the odd man out, but I agree with Vince–too much gold-yellow-and orange, but then I haven’t seen the guest room; maybe it would work. My bigger concern would be all the bold patterning competing with the quilts that you will use in that room. I tend to keep everything in a room neutral so my quilts are the focal point. but that’s just my preference. If you weren’t a quilter with such beautiful quilts, then yes, the chair could be just the “punch” the room needs.
Doris - The Quilting Queen says
I’m with Marky, I’m the odd man out too. I don’t like the chair with the room. I like the chair, just not with the room and I don’t think I like it with what we bought in Abilene. But I’d have to see it again to tell you for sure.
Peg says
The chair’s colors definitely work – it’d be an awesome ’60’s – ’70’s era retro look!
Judy Laquidara says
That’s what I’m thinking. I love a retro look!
Becky I. says
Yes! It goes perfectly, I only hope that Big Lots still has the chair when you go back. I find the one here is one of those “buy it when you see it” places. Often when I go back what ever it is, is not there anymore.
Judy Laquidara says
I had to take that chance because I have a feeling that once the dresser arrives, the room is going to be FULL and there won’t be room for the chair.
Peggy says
That chair is perfect. The colors are right, the chair is small and it looks comfortable. I would not wait too long to get it, because being and overstock store they may only have one in the entire area. I have been shopping Big Lots since the early 80’s when one opened up in Ohio near Dayton.
JudyL says
I’d rather miss out on the chair than buy it and find out that it doesn’t fit because I definitely don’t need that chair anywhere else in my house. Once the dresser is delivered, if there’s room for the chair, I can run back and get it. If not . . it wasn’t meant to be.
Bev says
The chair is perfect. The gold is like a touch of sunshine!
Karen Sutton says
Love the chair. I think it would be perfect in your guest room.
KatieQ says
I’m an extremely blah, neutral person, but I do like the look of that chair. It has a bright, happy feeling to it.
Cindy Kuipers says
Love the chair. And, I agree with Shirley – a framed photo of Ruby should go in that room!
Linda Buzan says
I think the chair is great for the room. Instead of worrying about the gold or yellow call it straw so the baskets that you are going to put in the room will pick up the straw of the egg baskets.
Mel Meister says
The chair is gorgeous! But… Big Lots (or Pig Snots as we call them) isn’t known for their quality. We do shop there from time to time but I’m always careful what I end up buying. Watch the expiration dates on the food.
pdudgeon says
it would be great as a focal point in the bedroom if you need a focal point.
but i think it would look much better in your sewing room as part of a cozy sewing corner, or as an additional chair for your second sewing machine set-up.
SharO says
Depends on what you use for a bed covering. But, NO. Vince is right this time.
Doe in Mi says
I think it goes great and I like it but, what quilt are you putting on the bed. Will the patterns clash?
JudyL says
Clash? I don’t understand that term! 🙂
Doreen says
Absolutely love that chair for Ruby’s Room! It’s perfectly sized and so retro…..
denise russart says
I think it’s perfect. Contains many colors from your chip it colors but also that gold and yellow for a bit of a pop factor – just cause they don’t show up in Ruby doesn’t mean those colors don’t complement the others. I”m not a fan of matchy matchy stuff so think that bold patterned chair would be such fun. I would totally go for it – I was so sad when our Big Lots closed. I bought some of the greatest stuff there.
JudyL says
Yes, matchy matchy is not my preference either. In fact, I’m usually more comfortable with having at least a piece or two that probably don’t quite go . . unless you stretch the “rules” just a bit. Once the dresser is here, I ‘ll see if there’s room for it. Your Big Lots closed? I’d better get back down there and spend more $$ to be sure ours stays open!
Judy Garber says
I think the chair does have more gold than the chips, but the actual Ruby picture has a little more gold than the chips. So……….I say go with it, it’ll be great!
Debbie says
Meant to write last night! I love that chair. I think it will go nicely. I like it so much I might run down to my Big Lots to see if they have it. hehe It is so retro!
Gloria says
I’m driving by and stopping this time! Sorry but I don’t like the chair. I think it will take the spotlight away from your quilts and I would rather the quilt be the highlight of the room, rather than the chair. It’s too bold.
Debi McIntosh says
Can’t wait – love the chair!
