Thank you all for sticking with me the past few months. Are you noticing that the blog is loading faster and hopefully you’ve encountered no database error messages. Sara is still working on the new blog design.
Sara suggested some changes such as hosting photos separately, using something called CloudFlare but in her talks with my former host, she felt that I needed to go from shared hosting to VPS hosting. I’m not sure how it all works but with all the content on the blog and all the visitors (which I really do appreciate), I was overloading the shared servers and sometimes when I was taking up too much space, the host just booted my rear end so others would have their fair share of space. Sara recommended RFE Hosting and over the weekend, the blog was switched to RFE.
I know absolutely nothing about switching web hosts, DNS, etc. but when I had switched once before (I’ve been blogging since 2004), I remember it being a lot of trouble . . scary trouble, and I was seriously concerned about moving the blog. The folks at RFE were absolutely wonderful! They did everything. Over the weekend, Friday night, all day Saturday and into Sunday, whether it was the middle of the night or the middle of the day, if I sent an email to them, I got an almost immediate response. They made me feel confident, even when the DNS transfer was taking longer than I had hoped and the blog was down for over 12 hours.
Their website says “Top Notch NEVER Outsourced Customer Service”. I definitely agree with the top notch service! At first I was a bit worried that they were some new, just started company, and only had one customer . . me! But, they’re a big company with lots of customers and I’m not their only customer! But what a great feeling to think you are the only customer and they really care about you and your little blog!
If you need web hosting, whether it’s shared, VPS or a dedicated server, I’m singing RFE Hosting’s praises! There’s a little blurb at the bottom of the blog that says “Web Hosting by RFE Hosting” so you don’t even have to remember their name when you do need a new host . . just go to the bottom of the blog and there it is.
Thank you so much RFE folks for making this switch so easy for someone like me who doesn’t have a clue how to do it all!

I’ve never had any site load faster than your blog today with the new host.
i mean, it loaded instantly—and that’s really saying something, because i have dial up and a computer that is 7 years old and won’t even play U tube!
Amazing—just amazing! Give them a pat on the back for me.

You are very welcome!
It was a pleasure to add you onto the RFE Hosting family!
And I look forward to seeing your site grow!
Keep up the good work!

I LOVE your new format. It is much easier to read and also to scroll back to previous posts.
Kudos to Sara!

One question, how do I find the older posts?
JudyL says
I don’t know how it worked on the old blog but here are the ways you can do it now (and this is still the temporary blog format):
1. At the very bottom of the main page, on the left, it says “older posts” . . click on that and you can go back through them all page by page.
2. On the right sidebar, there’s a search bar. If you’re looking for something about Ruby, simply type in “Ruby” there and hit return.
3. On the right sidebar, near the bottom, there’s a calendar. If you know about the date you’re looking for something or say . . Sunday’s Stash Report, click on the day you want to read.

It’s wonderful to get my chickins-fixins so quickly now! Thanks, Judy and Sara

Yes, loading is much, much faster!

It is great, Judy. I’m glad you found someone who can make it all work for you.

Ah, the panic when I thought your blog was gone! I’m so glad that you are back, and faster than ever. Also, thanks for explaining how to search your blog. I appreciate all the time and effort that you put into this. I check here several times a day, and I love the stash reports. I’ve found so many great blogs by checking out eveyone who links. Same for the Monday design wall–I love seeing the little photo of the project that shows by each link. You’ve got a great blog.

I noticed that your blog was down for a while but knew you were working on it so wasn’t too concerned. It really loads fast now. There have been times when I’ve thought about doing my library’s web page in blog format but that would mean moving the DNS from host to host and I just don’t know if I’m up for that. You have “people,” I am my “people” and I sure would hate to make a mess of things.

So far so good, it is loading much faster.

Judy I love the new blog only problem I am having is getting the pictures but that could be because I am on a work computer and they don’t care for Chickens 🙁 I would have loved to see them dancing in the rain.
Judy Laquidara says
My guess is that the photo sharing sites may be blocked from work computers.
Mary says
Judy the new blog is wonderful – I’m not having the issues I was having on getting it to load. I’m just putting my toe in the water on this blogging stuff so most of what you said made no sense to me.
Laura says
I have the same issue as Karla, probably for the same reason. I’ll try it again at home.
