Another thing I remember about this old theme is that the Link Box messes up being able to get to older posts. When there’s a link box, and there will be several before the new blog is up, look at the top of the post on the main page and it should have a link to a previous post. Otherwise, I’ll just have to move the link boxes down with new posts and once they’re off the main page, things seem to work ok.
You still cannot see comments .. I can see them and I love them so please keep leaving them. I’m counting down the days til the new blog gets here. Sara and I are in the design phase – what I like, what works, what she thinks so I know it’s going to be worth the wait.
We’ll just hobble along for another few weeks.
And speaking of hobbling . . I need to remind myself that I’m getting older. I wrote the Growing Old with Beauty and Grace post and then I didn’t take my own advice.
Every night I stay up too late getting things done (last night it was sourdough bread). When I go to bed, I hardly ever remember hitting the pillow. I fall asleep almost immediately. Then when I wake up in the morning, I’m out of bed and halfway through the house before my eyes are fully open. The minute I wake up, I’m ready to hit the deck running. The bed is an old wooden frame with wooden rails that stick out just an inch or two from the box spring. This morning as I sprang out of bed, my right foot sprang right into that wooden rail and now . . guess what! I can’t walk on my right foot. It’s been several hours and it’s hardly swollen and there’s no visible bruising so I don’t believe it’s broken but it dang sure hurts. I can hobble a bit with no shoes. Put on my trusty flip flops and I can’t take a single step.
I told Vince “Someone has to pick peas and cut okra today.” He said “I guess you’d better figure out how to get a shoe on and walk out there!” I know he’s joking but so far, I don’t think he’s picked or shelled a pea in his entire life. Today may be the day! 🙂

I hear you about the comments not showing up, Judy. Annoying! Since you love them so much, I’m leaving one now, wishing your foot a speedy recovery!

OUCH! I was afraid that spider had got your foot sore. My Dh picked and shelled my peas while I went to a baseball game with a friend. Picked my Strawberries, but leaves them in the bucket. MEN>??? Can’t live with or without them…

Yippee! Comments are showing up now!

Mine went out this morning and picked green beans… after I told him last night I had plans to do things with our grown daughter all day… So now those beans are lurking needing to be snapped and canned.. also have dentist appointment first thing in the morning… I figured the beans were better off on the plant than picked in buckets… just sayin !!! Then he has the audacity to ask about picking corn!!! Fine with me if he is the one putting it in the freezer!!! (not likely)

So sorry to hear about your foot. Everything can wait a bit. They’ll be just that much more plump…right? Hope the hurt stops soon. Sandi

I’ve been able to read the comments all along so I figure I’m doing something wrong and just don’t know it. As long as I can read your blog and see the photos, I’m happy. I figure if you’re going to all the effort of putting a blog together several times a day, I’ll just shut up and enjoy! Keep on keepin’ on. And try staying off your foot for a day and see if that doesn’t help. I know, I know – there are things to be done. (loved the Bertha story) (I grew up in the country)

News flash: Today comments are back.

Ice that foot, Judy! 20 minutes on, 20 off. Do that several times a day. You can knit while you’re icing!
I am looking forward to the new blog-look. Can anyone really understand or explain the vagaries of the internet???
Shirley Albertson Owens (sao) says
I am so so so sorry Judy! Who knows, Vince might decide that he likes picking peas! 🙂
If I were there, I would help you!

Hope your foot is feeling better. I just got back from going trucking. the edge of the bed is metal. Sometimes when I sleep, with all 4 dogs behind me, I get pushed to the edge….imagine that!! LOL I usually wake up with a sore knee. I sleep on my side and the knee on the edge will give me fits for a few hours. Then there is the getting up at 3 AM looking to see if there is a hidey hole to stand and well..pee pee. So I get up and sneak around to the back of the neighbors van trailer and ….husband gets up and honks the horn!!!! NOT funny. While I am trying to be sneaky….Awwww the joys of trucking and peeing in the great outdoors???? Guess we will be taking Cross Arms (for the electric poles) to Ohio and all those places that were hit so hard. The bad news, our load goes to 100 Mile House, BC, Monday is there independence day…so we can’t reload til tuesday. They want teams, so I will probably go…got a2 bindings ready to take with, and some embroidery. I sure do use muscles that I forgot about climbing in and out of the truck….Another adventure 🙂

That makes two hobbling quilters this morning….you and Lynn in Nebr. They say things come in threes so maybe I should put my shoes on & be extra careful today. Vince has my blessings with the peas & okra.
Rosalie says
Well, at least if Vince picks the peas you can sit and shell them! And prop your foot up while you shell – some ice wouldn’t hurt either – for the foot!
Barbara says
We had an electric bean sheller. My husband liked using it, so that meant one less job for me to do!!

I wish I lived closer and I would pick stuff for you! I am so sorry for your troubles. Can you use insect repellant? Just do what you can and don’t worry about the rest… Take care!
