At Kroger this week, raspberries are on sale for $1/carton. Seven or eight months ago they were on sale for about $2/carton and I made 6 or 8 pints of raspberry jam and it didn’t last nearly long enough so I mentioned to Vince this morning that they were on sale for a great price. He went to the store.
Now I have 24 packs of raspberries!
So, today when I desperately need to be knitting, or quilting, or shelling peas, I’ll be doing something with all these raspberries. Some will be washed and flash frozen, then vacuum sealed in bags. Those will be used later for muffins, raspberry trifle and eating! Some will be made into jam . . today! Next to cherry and grape, raspberry might be my favorite jam.

I’m waiting for the raspberries to go on sale here. This week is red plums and apricots for $.97/lb. No berries on sale this week 🙁 When the raspberries go on sale, I will load up like you did…the same with blackberries, blueberries and strawberries 🙂 Gonna freeze many pounds of them, as well as more jams and some more blueberry, blackberry and strawberry syrup 🙂

Lucky You!! We are still on strawberries…Yum, my favorite 🙂 Here in the Raspberry Capital of the US…we haven’t even started harvesting yet. A lot of our berries go to Smuckers….so they are made into Jam. A lot go to Hagen Daz……well we know what those go into LOL!!! I just love the Berries of Summer !!!

We finally have a house in the boonies. I got that canning book you recommended and I must confess that I’m intimidated! It’s scary! I wish there were people I knew that canned living nearby because I would beg to be present when they can so that I could learn! I love Raspberry jam too and am planning to grow Raspberries here. We’ll see how that goes!

Sure wish you could “flash send” some of those raspberries to me. I live in north FL & have never seen them that cheap – about the best I can find is 2/$4.
