How much do you use Twitter? I’ve never quite figured it out I suppose. I follow a few people and I love checking in on the ones that are active but I’ve never been very active. Same with Facebook. I get so frustrated with the games and signs people post on Facebook . . and the whining. I wonder if folks who whine about every little thing on Facebook also whine as much in real life. I hope not!
One of the questions I get over and over is “How do you get so much done?” My answer is always the same . . I don’t think I do get so much done. There’s always more left to get done at the end of the day.
Here’s my new plan . . and you know how my plans go . . they may change before dark. I’m going to use Facebook like I’ve always used it. If you’re my friend on FB, you won’t notice anything different. I’m going to change the way I use Twitter. For at least a couple of weeks, I’m going to try to tweet more about what I’m doing . . each step along the way.
So, if you really want to know what I do and how I spend my days, follow me on Twitter. You can always “unfollow” me if you don’t like what you see. I assure you . . my life is pretty boring but I’ll put at least the quilt related and garden related activities on Twitter and see how that goes.
All of my social media buttons are over on the left sidebar.

I use Twitter mostly to follow the grands who live in Canada and to tweet my blog posts.
Gail F says
I don’t belong to Twitter, but do belong to Facebook since that’s how I can follow my son’s escapades. Can’t say I want to join Twitter, so I hope you’ll continue to post to email. I love reading your newsy, informative emails.
Kristin says
On Facebook, you can block all the feeds about games or pictures of the day or whatever. On a game post, hover your mouse over the upper right corner of the post and you will see you can block all XXX posts. I do it all the time.
Linda Steller says
I think I feel about the same as you do, Judy. I had a Twitter account for all of about two days. It wasn’t for me. I like Facebook for keeping up with what my friends are doing. I don’t mind seeing the occasional cute photo, but some go overboard with the inspirational sayings, political viewpoints, and whining! I like seeing photos of where people are if they’re traveling, special things they’re doing, projects, etc. Or just hearing about how their day is going. I have done my best to turn off all the games and extra (ahem) BS. 😉
laceflower says
I won’t have a FB account because of privacy issues and twitter would be a time suck and I’ve got too much to do to waste it on twitter.
Alma says
I follow the same pattern as Linda (above) concerning Facebook. I would do away with my account if I didn’t lose the ability to view pictures from my family. I sure get tired of all the political and ” inspirational ” postings.
Also, if a person has a strong affinity for a certain topic, do they have to post tons of pictures of same (i.e. horses). Do I need to see 10 pictures of horses each day!
Same applies to political postings. T. M. I. !
But I am stuck. It is what it is….!

I don’t do twitter or face book or follow anyone on them. I read a couple blogs but that’s about it — the less time on the computer, the more time I have to actually get things done in the free time I have.
Kristen says
I like FB and I block what I don’t want to see. I can check it when I want to or not. I don’t like Twitter…too many posts with too many @s. I like blogs…I get to read what I want when I want and I can get caught up easily. Maybe I just don’t understand Twitter, but I think I’ve figure out it just isn’t for me.
Debbie Rhodes says
I have no idea about twitter…. and only have Facebook to enter a few contests. Too much information there… does a grandma need to know every movement of her teenage grandchildren. Nope… Do I want every family member or friend to know everything, Nope… I love blogs and talking to family and friends on the phone..
Brita says
FB and Twitter, not for me! I already spend too much time on the computer!! I love to read particular blogs, when and if I feel like it, and thankfully, my son has a blog where he posts pictures, bazillions of them! I don’t “get” why people have to keep in touch with every minute of peoples’ lives, tweeting, texting, twittering. I don’t even like to talk on the phone, and I seldom call because it’s intrusive. I’ll send an email and the person can respond if and when they want to. But then there are those who seldom read their emails. Oh well. I guess next everyone will have cameras that follow them around so we can not only get tweeted about their meals, we can watch them eat, or watch tv with them.
Sue in Scottsdale, AZ says
I don’t tweet or use Facebook. Like a few others, I read a few blogs when I want. I already spend too much time on the computer. I much rather sew or read a good book than read tweets or the minute to minute details of someone’s life. I love your blog and will continue to read it but I won’t follow you on Twitter.
Linda in NE says
I had to sign up for Twitter as part of a technology class, but never could see the point. Is anyone really interested in every little thing I do…I’m not even interested!! At this point I can’t even remember my login & password. I’m on FB mostly to keep up with far-flung relatives…and most of those are my DH’s, my own family is decidedly unconnected.
Sandy says
I’ve never used Twitter. I have a Facebook account and most of my Facebook “friends” are relatives. I block everything to do with games because I’m not interested in playing them or reading posts about them. Mostly I consider Facebook a big waste of time.
Gwynette in NW Arkansas says
I do not NEED to know every move someone else makes. Facebook and twitter are major time sucks. I like to sit with my coffee in the morning and read a few blogs, yours being one of them. But, honestly, I have a life, too, so what any one else does minute by minute….. who cares??????
Karin says
I’ve never used Twitter – didn’t quite ”get” it……
SarahB says
I don’t facebook or Twitter. I spend altogether too much time on-line with e-mail and blogs to add another time sucker to my life. Like the others, I hope you will continue to blog about the garden, quilting and knitting as well as Vince’s latest shopping trips.. 🙂
Besides, I’m not sure I would want everyone knowing what I am doing all day. If I want accountability I only need to look to my husband and children. They let me know without mincing words when I am spending too much time on fluffy things (incidentally, they think quilting is part of that genre and I can’t make them understand without it I might go insane!) I’m off to make an ice cream sundae and walk out to check on the chickens.. some animal is bothering them again.
CindyM says
I really like Facebook. It times some time to get all of the “stupid stuff” blocked, and you still don’t get it all, but it’s such a great way to keep up with friends and family, especially when you don’t live close to them. I’ve reconnected with high school friends and have had a couple of great lunches with some of my oldest friends when I’ve been back to Iowa (where I grew up) that probably wouldn’t have happened if it wasn’t for Facebook. And I can’t believe how nice it is to see pictures of old friends and their kids adn grandkids, as well as nieces and nephews. And I play scrabble with some good friends on Facebook… keeps my mind working!
Dawn says
I agree Judy. I lasted two days on Twitter. I just dont have the time or energy for it. and facebook, well I really dont want to know EVERYTHING that someone is doing. I have “friends” who post every little thing. too much information! LOL and the games are a time waster. would rather be quilting! too many UFOs I need to “reunite” with LOL
marion morgan says
I just joined FB and for one reason: I see great pictures of my grandchildren. I find all these “wanting to friend with” things silly as I have a busy life. I do follow “Atticus” on FB religiously and wonder if anyone else does. He is a dog from N.H. and there is a great book about him and this continues the book–it is really wonderful to read and the author is great. You know I read the Beeker Boys too just to hear about the sheep. And that’s it.
Bonnie says
FB – only to see what the nieces and nephews are doing. Twitter – haven’t even tried it. Blogs – YES. I love reading blogs, seeing pictures of quilter’s projects, and enjoying the humor of every-day life happenings. Thanks for being one of my favorite blogs.
Libby says
No to Twitter and Facebook. Too much inane information. I, too, have a list of blogs, mostly quilting, I look forward to reading every morning with my coffee. I enjoy yours immensely, Judy!
WiAmy says
No facebook and no twitter for me! I enjoy reading blogs.
Diana in TX says
I’m on facebook, but not all the time. Don’t play the games and block the postings about them. But it has been one way of keeping up with friends and relatives. And I only follow a few blogs all the time. Too much computer times means nothing else gets done!!!! Can’t have that. Too many other things to do.
marcie says
I don’t use Twitter and use Facebook mostly to check on a few friends, a few coworkers, and a few relatives. I hope you continue to post about what you are doing here. Yours is the only blog I read.
Linda B in MI says
I don’t twit, pin, blog, quit smoking and just barely go on my Facebook site…and I still don’t get everything done….Oh, I know the problem…the INTERNET!!!!!!
Angie SoCal says
I use twitter a little bit (don’t really know what I’m doing) and Facebook to see the grandkids in Colorado. Otherwise I am like so many quilters – don’t have time. I’ll see you twitter, Judy.
Amy @ Heritage Homemaker says
I love Facebook! I have reconnected with so many old friends from school and it sure helps our family stay in touch with one another so much better than we ever have.
Twitter. Not so. I have had an account, but like most have said, never quite knew what to do with it. BUT this idea of yours is GREAT! I am going to log in now, and stay logged in to keep up with your antics 🙂
Liz says
I don’t twitter or fb. I prefer to write blog posts as well as read blogs.
I write my blog as my journal that I then share with friends. I prefer to write whole sentences with proper spelling. 140 character limit would drive me batty!
I read a variety of blogs (news, sports, politics, science, design as well as quilting blogs). I don’t check every site everyday, but it is my way of keeping up with stuff at my own pace.
