This is my favorite bottle opener! Not for opening bottles but for removing lids from jars. It works so well . . never bends the metal lids, never feels like it wants to crack the glass on the jars. I love this little opener.
Here’s the underneath side. I’ve had this opener for a long time. Since the Tattler lids are re-usable, I wanted to be real careful with them. I ordered the the opener that Tattler sells and I’m not crazy about it so I looked for this old opener and couldn’t find it. I keep it in the drawer with the silverware because I use it so much. I’ve had it since we moved into this house so I knew it wasn’t lost in the move. I knew that Vince had used it and stuck it somewhere. I figured it was easier to buy a new one than try to find the old one. That’s exactly why we have so much stuff! Bad habit!
I had already looked at Wal-Mart here, and at Amazon. There’s one at Amazon that might be a newer model but I just love the one I have. We looked everywhere at Abilene for it and none of the usual places had it . . Bed, Bath & Beyond has tons of OXO products and they didn’t have it. Target has a bunch of OXO products and they didn’t have it. I was so desperate that I came home and dug through all the drawers in the kitchen (yes, I know . . there aren’t many in this kitchen!) and I found it.
Then Vince and I sat down and had a talk! He now understands that he is never ever to touch this bottle opener again and if he sees anyone else touching it, he is to immediately take drastic measures.
Who would have thought that a can opener that I’ve had for years and years could now be such a treasured possession?

Oh… I get attached to things like that too… especially kitchen items..

I’m with you Judy. I have things in the kitchen (and sewing room) that are…..Don’t touch and don’t move!!!!! They are where they are supposed to be and where I can find them.

I feel the same way about my scissors and knives. My husband knows which ones he can use and which ones he must not touch. Some things I would like him to use, like the broom outside, the sweeper inside, the dust cloth, the washing machine etc. he seems to be allergic to the touch.

Unfortunately, it seems you’ll be out-of-luck getting a new one since even OXO’s website doesn’t show that item.

P like to put some hot pink paint on anything I don’t want MEN to touch!
However I’m not sure that would work for kitchen utensils.
I DO have this and hardly ever use it. I’ll have to look at it again and see if I am missing something.
PS – Put the scissors you don’t want you family to touch in the drawer with your underwear! My students used to swear by this one.
Wouldn’t work for you Judy since I doubt you keep your underwear in your sewing room!

Sometimes the old stuff is just the best stuff!!
Does it really take 2 1/2 hours to get supper on the table? I know you love to cook and all, but maybe during the super busy summer season you need simple meals you can get on the table in an hour or less. Simple meat, starch, veggie, ice-cream or fruit for dessert. Or something in the slow-cooker in the morning. Or take one day where you totally stay out of the garden/yard/sewing room and cook large amounts of several dishes, have some of one for supper and freeze the rest to quickly heat up on other days. I know you’ve done this before. Actually there’s nothing wrong with a quick sandwich & chips or a fresh-baked from frozen Giordino’s pizza when there’s other things that need to be done. Remember, you’re one person and you can’t physically do it all so don’t drive yourself into the ground trying.

I am amazed at all you do…….. I try but can’t seem to focus on the prize as you do…………….. I can’t even get something on the design wall each Monday but since you are making the offer I am going to attempt to join in on On the Needles Friday…………
Yes, there are a few tools I use that I would maim someone if they bothered them…………….

We love our tools that are efficient & effective! Disappointed that the opener seems to have been discontinued, wanted to get one for my sister the master canner! Ah well, glad you found yours & found out how precious it is as it would be hard to replace. Happy cooking!
