It almost didn’t happen last night but . . it did! Vince has worked so hard getting this coop done and it turned out so cute!
Here’s one side of the coop, all ready except for the wood shavings on the floor. The food bucket still needs to be hung but for last night, it’s on the floor.
Vince brought the first bucket of chickens over . . the 6 Dominiques. Farmer Vince looks a tad grumpy, don’t you think?
We began putting them in one by one. They were scared to death. They had no idea what was happening to them. They’ll figure it out. Poor little darlings! One of them stood there and looked in the nesting/laying box like she kept expecting something to jump out of it.
Then the bantams were moved. Same thing . . they were scared but they were a bit more inquisitive than the Dominques were. This is my favorite rooster. His name is Roscoe!
Here he is in the coop. He’s so funny to watch.
The big white chicken behind Roscoe is the other rooster and his name is Otis. We may try to put him in with the original 14 hens.
They’ll be so happy with their new home once they get used to it.

How fun Judy, I enjoy getting to live through you and enjoy your chickens. Vince did a great job on the chicken coops.

I have to say that when I read all the posts on the chickens I think you and Vince are having so much fun! It makes me want to have chickens! I have no place for that, though! 🙂
The coops are so attractive. Vince does really nice work. So much nicer than what I see at the local hardware/feed store. Custom work – so much better!!!

love the pictures of the roosters and their names. we are really working toward getting chickens, but wanted to put up a privacy fence first. love reading about your adventures. my nephew tried chickens a few years ago and it did not work out, but he built a chicken shack as they were calling it, and it is going to become ours once the fence is finished.
love reading about all your adventures on your little piece of God’s country. it is a huge dream of our but not feasible with the price of land in our area.

Rosco P. Coltrain….like in Duke’s of Hazard??? Vince likes him – I see him smiling holding him. Another coop job well done, Vince and Judy!

Yes! Vince does look a tad grumpy in the first picture, but look at his face where he’s holding the rooster. Watch out, they may have something planned.
Great job on the coop Vince! Would you like to build me one in OH?
I have always wanted chickens 🙂

Your chickens live in the lap of luxury, lucky chickens. I just love the pictures and could look at chicken pictures almost as often as I love to look at pictures of quilts. More pictures please! 🙂

Well, Judy, next on your agenda should be to get some ducks. LOL They are messy, but so much fun to watch. They act like clowns most of the time. I love to watch them waddle. Vince did a wonderful job on the coops.
