Here’s a sneak peak of how the Carpenter’s Star will be quilted during the upcoming feather lessons. This is way more feathers than I would normally put on this quilt. Except for the background behind the outermost star points, every square inch of this quilt has feathers.
That’s a whole lot of feathers! There’s still time if you want to get your Carpenter’s Star top done and quilt along with us beginning June 1. If you’re interested in participating, click on the “Group Projects” tab above for the details.

the quilting is fabulous Judy! I am determined to learn to do FMQ feathers on my sewing machine!

Thanks for showing this. I wasn’t sure how you were going to do it, and I can’t do this on my short arm, and not sure if I want to do it on the DSM, but my quilt is almost done, (ran out of border fabric, and it is at the “other” house) and will still follow along. I am wanting to make another one of these already, can never have too many “spares”. Love your colors…

Oh, I love how you quilted it! I’m looking forward to June 1.

Yours is beautiful, Judy! Are you sure I should start out on a ‘real’ quilt? After all those feathers I should be better, but… Especially the feather wreaths look tricky. I’m in only may have to put it upstairs on a bed where no one will see it :)!
Bev in MI says
Wow! I feel like it’s cheating to call myself a “longarmer” because I’m so new at it and need lots of practice, practice, practice; seems like that’s all I keep hearing.
I’m so excited for the feathering lessons, I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas! Thanks for doing this Judy.

I’m getting ready. I have half of the blocks sewn together and the rest of the blocks done and ready to be sewn. I have cut 2 of the three borders and they will be ready when the center is done. Now I have no idea what the backing will be but I do have 2 weeks to figure it out.
Mary C in WA says
My machine’s throat space won’t allow the feathered wreaths, they are too deep. I only have about 5″ total space to quilt on my Midarm Quilting Table before I have to roll. I’m very tempted, but have those darn UFO’s and dare not start a new project. I’ll be watching the rest of the ladies who do it with you.
Sharon says
Hi Judy not finished my top yet but I am hoping to be ready by June 1st…..
Donna says
That is gorgeous! I’m really looking forward to learning this.
Carolyn says
You work is just beautiful. My top was completed several months ago. Can’t wait for your feather lessons.
