Have you ever watched the show, Duck Dynasty? Oh, my! It’s hilarious but on the other hand, it’s kinda sad. Those folks are from Louisiana. They crack me up but really . . I’m not sure they help Louisiana’s image. Speaking of Louisiana’s image, I heard on the radio this morning that they were named the least peaceful state with the highest homicide rate. That’s not so much the case in the area where I call home. I hardly know anyone who’s been murdered!
Back to Duck Dynasty . . supposedly the family made their millions from making duck calls. Remember this? Watching that video still cracks me up. Almost 2-1/2 years ago. I want to go back!! I miss Chad and his duck calls. I miss everything about Chad. OK . . we’re not going to cry . . are we?
On our Amazon account, all the emails confirming our purchases come though my account. Vince really should learn that’s not a good idea. I suppose it’s better though for me to see what he’s purchasing than for him to see what I’m purchasing, don’t you think?
So, Vince is going to turn duck calls? Maybe we’ll be millionaires some day . . like the Duck Dynasty folks. Maybe Chad can move here and we’ll have a family business! Or, maybe not. Since I have known Vince, he has bought and sold more woodturning equipment than you would believe. He also has lots of exotic wood and he’s darned good at it but, he never does it. He moved all that equipment and wood from Georgia to Mississippi to Kentucky to Missouri to Texas!
I would be real happy to see him get back into doing a lot of woodturning.

He could make some really nice turned seam rippers. I just bought one and it is beautiful.

I’ve never seen the show but every time I see the commercials for it I think about your posts about Chad & his duck calls.

Duck Dynasty is a hoot! That show makes me happy 🙂 happy :)happy 🙂 The bee episode….OMG I think they show a wonderful, loving, hard working-for the most part–family. I am so happy there is no bleeping of swear words and no screaming and yelling.
The Chad video still cracks me up. Hugs, Momma.
Oh I cannot wait to see what Vince makes! You really should suggest the seam rippers. I’d be one of the first in line. 🙂 I’m glad I’m the only one here that knows how to shop on line. 😉

Has it really been 2 1/2 years since you made that post? Yes indeed I do remember. Have a very nice day. Sandi

My son records and watches every episode of Duck Calls. Personally, I can’t stand it.

Well, he has a real workshop now and since y’all aren’t moving any more, he can start TURNing out stuff. 😉

Maybe Vince is planning to do more woodworking when he retires. Retirees really do need a hobby they can do in good weather and bad. I really don’t know what my DH will do with himself when he retires and the weather is bad. His hobbies are mostly outdoors. Kind of scares me to think of what he’ll come up with. 🙂
I read an article about that “most dangerous state” designation and I think it had as much to do with how many people owned guns in the state and not just the murder rate. There are people who think everyone who owns a gun is a dangerous, potential criminal. Apparently those statistics publishers run with the wrong crowd. Just about everyone I know has guns and not a one of them has ever used one for violence.

Judy,
If Vince does decide to return to wood turning, (no pun intended!), He could enter your world of quilting and make some beautiful sewing tools! I have seen seam rippers, surgical and traditional styles, awls, paper piecing pressers, point turners, all made on the lathe and done in individual, and matched sets. At a wood working show I go to every year with my husband, I have begun buying one new sewing tool each year, and hope to get him to make me a set himself, since they would mean that much more if they came from my sweetheart, don’tcha know!?

The last few quilt shows I’ve been to have had an assortment of turned wooden quilting tools – rippers, stilettos, etc., for sale and they were not only very expensive, but quite beautiful. Not to mention that one could make some awesome knitting needles out of nice wood! 😉 As far as ducks go, I’m from the home of the Oregon Ducks. Worked for the UO for 32 years and was never a fan. Our “sportsmen” (and I use the term loosely) often appear on the front page of the paper for drugs, robbery, domestic violence, exceeding the speed limit on the freeway by approximately 40-50 mph while their car reeks of dope (but they smoked it all, so they’re let go), or for driving without a license or insurance. Real role models all. As far as I’m concerned, Vince should make duck calls, and Chad should use them. Might as well shoot those ducks! ;P

My friend’s husband was a hobby wood turner and he turned the most beautiful bowls. He said the wood needs to cure properly for a length of time or the turned bowls would crack. Perhaps Vince views his unturned wood as part of his “stash” and cannot bear to cut into it or he’s waiting for it to cure!

I LOVE that show! The family values represented there are so very different that what most reality TV shows portray. We record and watch this without fail. Some episodes even get a second viewing to see what we overlooked the first time. And since I am in the middle of red-neck country (and honestly, my neck is pretty red!) the antics of these guys are kind of like seeing MY family up there!
Unlike the “other” Louisiana reality shows (Bayou Billionaires, which I watch, and Red Neck Vacation, which I can’t stand, both of which are about people just up the road from us) there is not a lot of “bleeping” going on… I like that.
To each his own, love it or hate it. I too think of Chad when I see duck calls! How strange that I think of someone I’ve never met… this shows the power of blogging.
