Today we begin a quick quilt-along. I’m using the May Color Palette colors. Feel free to us any fabrics you desire.
The quilt as shown will finish at 70″ x 79″. As far as yardage, use stash fabric or scraps and use as many different fabrics as you’d like. For the white or ecru (or whatever color you choose) background, you will need about 2-7/8 yards.
The quilt below shows pieced squares for the sashing squares and a few pieced squares in the border. The quilt show above has no sashing squares. I will give instructions for both or you may use plain squares for the sashing and all plain squares in the border.
The blocks are 7-1/2″ finished or 8″ unfinished. The block could be strip pieced but for variety, I will piece all of mine with individual pieces. We only need 30 blocks.
The center (green) and the left and right side of the center (yellow) are cut 2″ x 2″.
Press the seam allowances any way you’d like! It isn’t going to matter one bit with the piecing.
For the top and bottom strips of that section, the pieces (yellow) are cut 2″ x 5″.
Again, press the seam allowances any direction you’d like.
Can you get 30 of these center sections made before Monday? My guess is yes, you can!

I have a tub of already cut 2″ strips (Bonnie Hunter girl here!) and I think I am going to dig in there and see what I can find. Should be able to come up with enough to make 30 of these by Monday. Heck, I think I could find enough in there to make 300 but I will try and restrain myself!

I love it, I am going to have to make this one, I think Liam will love it with all the bright colors and I need to make him a new quilt (he’s grown out of his old one) in more ways than one but still sleeps with it.

What a great simple block. This could be enlarge easily to showcase the fabric better. I have some batics that would look great and these blocks could offset solid blocksI as well and look fantastic. have added it to my wish pile of pattern (patterns I wish to make someday). Thanks for the inspiration.

What a cute pattern! I’m late starting, but the temptation is just too great! Haven’t been quilting a whole lot since I went back to work, but this looks like so much fun, I can’t resist! 🙂

I am new to quilting and am making quilts for Quilts of Valor. I think this would be a great one! Noticed a couple of ladies are going to use 2 1/2″ strips. I have an Accuquilt and that the 2 1/2″ die.
Do I need to do anything differently if I too do it 2 1/2″? And, QOV have specific sizes needed, how do I figure out what the finished size will be? So excited! Thanks for posting this fun!
