Vince has some supplies for building the new chicken coop . . some lumber, some screws.
Yesterday he grabbed the bag of screws for something he was going to work on and .. guess what was inside the bag!
I had to move the bag, very carefully, to get a picture. I put it back on the stack of lumber and the mama bird came back. I sure hope that’s a good place to have a next but I have my doubts.

Is it a wren? They build nests in the strangest places. We had to leave our store room door open until the eggs hatched and the babies flew away one time. Another they nested in a pot plant right outside our dining room window. That was fun to watch. Paper bags, not such a good idea.

This is just too cute–hope they live to fly away.

That’s hilarious! We had a little wren here that for years would build her nest in my bag of clothes pins. I’d be able to hang clothes early in the year, then have to wait for the little ones to leave the nest before I could use the clothes pins again!

Uh oh! Vince will have to make a stop at Home Depot to get more screws!!! What a shame! (Sarcasm) hahahahaha!

Make sure Vince also gets a few birdhouses the next time he’s at Home Depot or TSC.
The last time I was at the boat club, someone put up black plastic in the corners of the porch where the mud swallows like to build their nests. It will be interesting to see if that technique works.

Looks like Vince needs to build a few birdhouses! How cute!

We can’t use the canoe until momma wrens hatch their nests in the corners. We store it upside down in the carport over the vehicles. When the babies are learning to fly I have to keep the cat in, she sits on my car and waits for them to make a mistake.

Birds will find the most unusual places to build nests. In the spring when the barn swallows are looking for nesting sites we have to keep the garage doors closed. They can be very persistent, but we really don’t want that mess on our cars or freezer.

Aren’t you glad it wasn’t a spider? You made me look closer to see it.

I’ve been spring cleaning and anything that needs to go to Goodwill gets put on our side porch so my son can take it. One thing I put out there was a partially used bag of FiberFil. I caught a bird taking bits of the FiberFil out of the bag and flying back to her nest. So I’m leaving the FiberFil for the birds.
